Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

yes I believe they do ship to Canada.

I think the way these kits are supplied they currently cant provide it as a complete kit. I am not sure if that will change in the future

I may have read it here, but I think there was a poll to gauge interest for a set of figures. I'm guessing it'll be an add-on item in the future.

Yes, it was one of the options in the publishers survey in a question about additional extras. Also included were things like a paint kit, containing all the paints and a weathering kit.

Hi everyone,

Delighted to hear that those of you in North America are going to get this very soon. Fingers crossed for the rest of you in Continental Europe and Oceania that it won't be much longer.

I forgot to add pictures of the parts from last week (Issue 8), so you can see them here along with this weeks issue (9) parts.

With the supplied battery box, the back wall instruments now light up.

The LEDs are very bright and shine through the tube walls, so two strips of black tape are supplied (Bottom right) to prevent this.

The interior is starting to come together. None of these parts are glued together yet, just press fit. I will glue them once the surrounding hull structure is supplied and built.

The first bottom hull piece and frame comes with issue 9, the pipe greeblies for the hold are from issue 8.

Just called them and they do ship to CANADA, on checkout you can select your country and USA/CANADA is listed :)

That's all fine. A figure set is a good idea but I don't see why the US gets screwed out of a free figure. No reason not to offer the free figure and have the figure set include several other figures.

Well i hope within the next 2 years the Canadian dollar improves.. Still jumping on this, but ouch.

Hope the shipping to canada is close to the US shipping prices

Ah, I see. To clear up any confusion, the figures referred to in the survey are the same scale as the Falcon model, so they can be displayed inside the cockpit or hold/lounge area. They would be at an additional cost and ordered separately from your subscription.

With regards to the larger free gift statue type figure, with these type of subscription magazines the free gifts tend to vary slightly from region to region. Often when something has to be or is chosen to be omitted it is substituted with something else. I would guess that these figures will be relatively expensive to produce if they are done well. There is quite a bit of hand painting to be done.

One thing that did surprise me is that they decided to produce the figure as Han in ANH. When the Falcon we are building is from ESB. Strange.

I see that its not just the US they pulled the figure from the offer.

What I am debating now is costs and additional costs.

Right off the bat, 25 issues including the shipping costs comes to a total of $1,674.50 Then there are material costs such as paints. Plus any additional components that they may offer such as figures.

Costs aside, I worry about skills and resources needed. I am not what I consider to be any type of model builder. The assembly is not the issue, but the finishing. Some parts need painting like the cannons and colored panels. Then there is the overall weathering. I worry about skills it would take to make it look right as a bad paint job could just ruin the entire model. I also do not have an airbrush which would probably give the best results in this case.

How can you tell the difference? I mean, The only difference I can possibly imagine is that in ESB he had a dark blue jacket on instead of just the vest. I dunno.

You could use Vallejo paints. They can be brushed on and dry really smooth. They also have weathering sets.I agree thought it is a big investment if you are not sure you can do the painting justice.

So no matter when you order, you will start with issue #1, correct? I wouldn't want to order this and start out with issue 4 or whatever and then have to look for back issues.

And how do you put this together? Do you just use modeling glue or is it all snap together or what?
