Deagostini Falcon. Anyone seen this?

Oh I see. You go with the manufacturer's opinion on how to assemble their product. Interesting :lol

I think my momma told me once that if all else fails... read the instructions. I think that's what I ended up doing but it is true, the hull pieces do have to go on in a certain order. One overlaps the other in order to give it that seamless look. When I first started putting them on I couldn't figure out why they weren't fitting right, until I went back and looked at the instructions and discovered they had to go on in a certain order. I smacked my head!

Well based on you own quote your Momma said to only read the instructions "if all else fails." :lol :lol:lol:lol:lol

The trick is to screw it counter clockwise until you feel a light klick. That means the screw is aligned with the thread. I used that technique back when I payed with air soft gun.

I agree, the model is certainly not what you could call museum quality. But the genius of the ILM team was that they could build the model to a tight timescale and to the budget they had.

I remember reading an article about a dentist in Hawaii (If I remember correctly) who built a P-51D Mustang from scratch in brass (Using his dental tools!!!) replicating everything in the actual aircraft perfectly. The model was stunning, but of course took many years to complete. Guess how much that would cost you! It's two different worlds. Link - http://www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com/park.htm

I saw that model, it is just plain awesome.

Deagostini have just stated that the instruction steps must be followed in order and they will not reimburse you for parts you **** up. You will have to re buy any parts from the shop (as issues) so if it says nothing about screwing the hull panels on then don't do it.

I think I'll have to stick to the DeAgo.... There's no way on earth I could afford, not justify the undoubtedly enormous expense, let alone have anywhere to keep it!

Yikes..

I called this back during ComicCon when I first saw it. I know it sounds crazy and people assume it's a one of a kind for the show but I disagree.

My prediction, based on nothing but my own opinion , is Hot Toy will offer a full 1/6 Falcon over a period of numerous years.

Sure say I am crazy, it will never happen, there is no room for most people,... Just wait.

Hmmm, send the Kids to college or fill up the garage with an 18ft long Falcon Model. After emptying the garage first....

Tough Choice....

;-)

Kids need to learn responsibility and help pay for themselves. Have them help pay and or go to Junior College first. Much cheaper and the degree from their transferred to four year University is still the same. College degrees are not what they used to be. Have them go to a good trade skill or just get the heck out on their 18th birthday.

Easy choice. FALCON!!!!!!!!!!!

I called this awhile back :) The Deago Falcon may not be the fairest of them all ---after all :)
Hot Toys Is Making a Sixth-Scale Millennium Falcon That's 18-Feet Long

Recently Hot Toys has showcased an impressive 1/6th scale Millennium Falcon cockpit at San Diego Comic-Con which has already fascinated many Star Wars fans! But we are not stopping there yet, as a complete and highly detail 1/6th scale Millennium Falcon measuring close to 18 feet (5.5 meters) long by 12 feet (3.7 meters) wide will actually be making an appearance at ACGHK! Its sheer astonishing presence will surely captured any fans’ attention!

To heck with that, I want a 1:1 scale Falcon, with all those special modifications and all. That guy on that commercial got one, I want one TOO!!!!! :p lol

I thought about this early on in the build but haven't noticed it till now but looks like there will be ground lights in the bottom of the hull. Hope this is so! I'm up to issue 16 and haven't opened any parts bags yet but the pics I've seen looks like it will.

Yes the 1/6 MF is impressive but I have the same feelings about it as the 1/6 TIE fighter they had at Comic Con. It looks like they have just accurately scaled up the details from the model, without adding any new details appropriate to the larger scale. So it ends up looking like a large version of the Studio Scale model, rather than a 1/6 scale version of the full size Falcon. As kokkari said, looks toyish.

The 1/6 scale interior cockpit they had on display looked gorgeous with lots of finely scaled details, at least on the inside. The outside was very plain.

That's exactly it. You nailed it! It looks simply scaled up rather than adding additional detail necessary to make it look more legit for it's size.
