Deadpool (Post-release)

I just want to know, for all those that saw it and thought it was great... did you touch yourself tonight?

:darnkids:lol

We just got home from the theater. I loved it, loved it, LOVED IT! This is the Deadpool movie I've been jonesing for, and it was a fantastic redemption for the character on film.

I went to see this at a midnight screening last night, and I gotta say... I LOVED it!

First, the not-so-good:

1) Ajax seemed to be a lackluster villain. Sure he was a capable foil for Deadpool, but he was a bit one-dimensional and his entire performance seemed... lacking.
2) Gina Carano needs better roles and a better agent. Enough with the tough, fighter chick already.
3) The movie could have used some more off-the-wall Deadpool action. More 4th-wall breaking. And his thought bubbles. I would have killed to see him make a thought bubble, grab it, and beat a bad guy with it.
4) The Deadpool makeup could have been far more gruesome than it was. This just looked like a Ryan Reynolds doll was briefly dipped in hot oil.

Now, for the So-Good:
1) Morena Baccarin. My God this woman is an amazing actress. She went toe-to-toe with Ryan Reynolds in the snark department with no real winner while maintaining that classy, loving personality she is so good at doing.
2) Wade/Vanessa. I loved every minute of their onscreen relationship. It was twisted (as it should be) and also deeply heartwarming and felt very realistic.
3) Ryan Reynolds... Not only did he get every bit of Deadpool's wisecracking personality and unconventional thinking right, that scene at the beginning with the pizza delivery guy sold me on just how dangerous and terrifying Wade Wilson is.
4) Colossus. He was over the top nice (as Colossus should be), and while some would argue that his heavy handed moralizing had no place in a Deadpool movie, I would argue the exact opposite. His goody-two-shoes approach to heroics perfectly illustrates how much grey area exists in Deadpool's world.
5) Blind Al. They really nailed the "completely mismatched, yet perfect for each other" roommate situation they are in. Granted, they left out The Box (and all that entails), but the rest of it was gold, from the pranks to the snark to Blind Al's motherly concern for Wade. Plus, there's something inherently funny about a blind person putting together IKEA furniture (the entire IKEA furniture conversations were hilarious too).

There are more, but I'm still processing the movie.

CH-CH-CHKA-CHKAAAAA

Wait!!!!! Somebodies going great guns!!!! $47.5 million for the Friday opening in the US! Budget apparently just $58 million. That marketing campaign has really hit the bull's-eye! 96% general audience approval on RT!
Is this the way films could be made in the future ? Release some test footage and gauge the public reaction.

Thought it was great, pretty much everything I was looking for in a Deadpool movie. The jab at the studio for only affording "2" X-men in the huge mansion was great.

Only complaint would be the kind of bland Ajax, but still loved it.

Oh Deadpool, you saucy little devil, you...

Surpassed expectations no problem. I didnt know it was a flash back type of movie, but it worked well and was funny as F.....

Apparently they had to cut some of the jokes out of the movie just to get it rated R, hopefully those go into the DVD release.

Yep, a "Directors Cut" has been discussed for a DVD release with added violence ,naughty words and some extended ruder bits. Given the stunning BO performance so far I can see options opening up everywhere with this. Despite a lot of the " professional" reviews I've read I thought the "Hit" rate with nearly all the gags was incredibly good, and I can only imagine a few of the critics may have had humour bypasses or simply don't get comics. However ,the cinema going public definitely does! Best visual gag for me is still the "written" one in the junkyard. I felt a rib starting go with that one.

Tim Miller has now confirmed there won't be a Director's Cut and that he is happy with the current cut. But the Blu-ray will include deleted scenes.

TJ Miller says "I haven't a ****ing clue what I'm talking about because I have the attention span of a concussed flea whose just drawn blood from an acid tripping hippie. So ignore everything I say ,especially if I'm giving interviews after we took millions on this because I'll never be sober or capable of a coherent thought again.

When did he say this? I just read and watched him on you tube saying the exact opposite. Mind you he and Ryan are now predicting they are going to wait ten years before they do the sequel, because that's how long Fox took to greenlight Deadpool. But I think they might be joking about that.

Also wondering now if they'll change the way "Suicide Squad" will get marketed now (given they already went with that Queen soundtrack).

Really liked the movie, my only issue is a general movie theater problem. It seems like the sound isn't as loud and "encompassing",for lack of a better term, as it used to seem to me. I don't think it's my individual hearing deteriorating or anything like that, just that the sound systems aren't as boomy and punchy anymore, almost feels like you're hearing everything with a blanket over the speakers.

$135 million opening in the US alone!!!!!
$125 million opening Rest of the world!!!

$260 million total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess they might spend a little more on the budget for the next one!

Can we talk about the FREAKIN HELICARRIER!?!?
Was that just supposed to go unnoticed ?

Right!? I feel like none of the reviewers are mentioning that when they talk about easter eggs and references. I'm almost positive that was intentionally a Helicarrier, and someone pointed out that "Bob" is a reference to Hydra Bob. Also the pizza came from Feige's pizzeria or something to that effect

Bob is a pretty common name.

Could be a reference to Blackadder, or twin peaks.

I have no idea who Hydra Bob is.
