I'm hoping his gal somehow becomes death and they go explore that insanity of his.

I agree. Since the girlfriend is already a pre-existing Marvel character, they could have her die at the start of the film, causing his mind to finally snap. And then Death could take on her appearance in the film up until the end, where she reveals her true form.

Actually here's an idea:she IS death,she just got attracted to him because she knew he was gonna die and the only reason she got close was so he'd know he was really losing something,then when he went and got in weapon X and cheated "death" she really fell in love with him and his all out craziness.

This info could make him both love her more and make his mind really snap thus bringing in the voices in his head,then Cable shows up and because of Deadpool's habit of making things worse the time stream gets all screwed up and he forgets death but she seeks him out and he falls for her all over again.

Why I love him,you can just make up the most insane story and somehow....it works with him,hell he went and KILLED the whole Marvel universe fer christssakes.

One thing:they never really gave a firm time frame about this (far as I could tell) so it COULD be twenty years ago,Deadpool started in the early 90's so.....

And they want to bring in Cable so...time travel.

I don't think it was set in the 90's. Unless they were doing some form of meta humor with the smartphones and emojis, that's not a possibility.

Plus they mentioned Chechnya, which wouldn't have existed in the 90s.

Well, either way works. But I like the idea of Death taking on Vanessa's appearance after her death because it seems rather logical. Most people who have near death experiences often claim that they see or hear a loved one. Plus, it'd be a bit ironic that Death chooses to take on the appearance of Vanessa because she may fear he would find her real appearance revolting (kinda like how he was afraid of approaching Vanessa after what happened to him) and then, at the end, reveal her real appearance (bare human skull on a human female's body) and Deadpool pretty much saying "Hey, if you fell in love with me looking like I've got I've gone through a meat grinder, I'm sure I can love you as you look. Besides, you've got all the parts that I really like." XD
