Dead Space - My first costume and prop attempt

I'm gonna call it a day. Boots are painted. Hand piece was re-made, painted and glued to the gloves. Chest painted. Yellow laid down on the plasma cutter. Also, all the rib pieces are now cut out and ready for plasti-dip and paint. The boots turned out better than I expected. I faded black into the very bottom since that would be the most worn/dirtiest. Here are the pics... Sorry in advance if there is an over abundance of pictures.

cool once again. your boots look good, I always wondered why they didn't put some "ribs" of some sort on them and pull the design together alil from top to bottom. and also this was such a fantastic game that when I was playing I was actually holding my breath in real life when I.C was "outside" the ship and running outta air. LOL :$

I'm sitting at Jiffy Lube waiting for my work van to get its oil changed and realized I didn't do an update at the end of my weekend. Here's the progress. 20150504_102844.jpg20150503_215501.jpg

cool man, I was wondering were an update was LOL so are you doing a 2 piece suit? your painted armour pieces are gonna look pretty damn great with that fabric! you deserve double beers :cheers:cheers

I'm not quite sure how to answer that question. I will be wearing a black under armor shirt with the fake leather on top of that. There will also be a striped suit material added to the fake leather/suede around the shoulders and sleeves as well. So.... Yes? I'm doing a 2 piece suit? :$

I'll also be making faux leather chaps to cover a pair of black Dickies pants.

Tonight I watched a few YouTube videos on how to "age" and "weather" with acrylic paints. I spent the last few hours making my nice new pretty armor look old, dirty, grimy and beat up!

looking cool, for a first time build you have loads of clean lines in your foam work its gonna look great :thumbsup

This is looking great, I really like the stasis launcher thing for the left wrist.
Those gloves look rad, mind if I ask what brand they are?
Can't wait to see more!

I am so excited! I finished the plasma cutter. It is DONE. I was really nervous when it came to painting it with a brush, but I am really proud of it. Not perfect by any means, but the best that I could do. :D

I also threw a little easter egg in on the chest display.

Oh man, that plasma cutter looks so awesome!
I am really enjoying seeing this whole suit come together. Keep it going, this has got me on the edge of my seat!

EDIT: Thanks for the glove info!

I'm stuck on progress. I need to get the cloth portions done before I can continue. Since I have ZERO idea how to use a sewing machine, I am at the mercy of my wife. She and I will try to get some of that done today. I'm in my element in the garage, not behind a sewing machine. I even tried to imagine it was a band saw or scroll saw. Didnt help at all. :cry

I'm a broken record on your project, this is AWESOME! You're doing a really great job, and it's coming together so quickly :)!!

She kicks so much rear I need new butt cheeks! :D Tons accomplished today. While she was sewing, I needed some refresher inspiration. So I threw on Dead Space to channel my inner Isaac.

After playing for a couple of hours, I really started to despise my chest piece. So, I made a new one. Again, not perfect, but I like it better than the last one.

While I was making that, my wife was inside sewing the velcro on the right arm sleeve for the segmented armor pieces.

Using sew on snaps, I (not my wife) hand sewed the back of the snaps to small sections of 1" nylon straps and barge cemented those into place on the back of the new chest piece. Once they were in place I marked and sewed corresponding piece of each snap to the fake leather.

Now time to adhere all the little rib pieces.

TIME TO TEST FIT! Getting excited.
