Well, as far as I know, This is the last replica out from POTC that I needed, (not counting the map from AWE)

Sorry for the bad pics, it was 11pm when I took the pics, and the lighting doesn't show the colors well...

I can't remember the last time I felt like a kid on christmas opening up a long awaited gift....

This sucker is pretty heavy, but at the same time, it kinda feels fragile while holding it.. It definetely has more color to it, not just the rusty look on the MR site, I can see pewter coloring throughout... The detailing in the sculpt and weathering are great,

The inside looks awesome, but kinda small at the same time, especially when I put the heart inside

I plan on taking nice outdoor pics ASAP

Really random question: Does the MR key fit inside the keyholes?

Saw this on displey at Comic-Con, and I really wish I had an excuse to get one!

...and that feeling is what all this collecting is really about! :lol

Looks great, does it match the modified measurements?

HxWxD 10"x14"x8.5"

Very nice. Looks great with the heart inside. Also, I think I read somewhere on the MR website that their key fits into the lock.

Hi there!

The chest looks really great - it's detailled and quite nice - but in my opinion it looks like plastic.

I actually hate these replicas made of resin. It doesn't look like wood at all...
Sorry.

Very nice, R!... I was thinking (after your Barbosa sword arrived) that I'm not sure we've seen ou youdisplay your overall collection, which is growing by leaps and bounds!

You are definitely the man with all this POTC stuff.

That chest looks awesome!!! I'd love to see how you have all this stuff displayed. Any chance of some group pics?

Sorry.

Kinda gotta mostly agree :unsure. Sometimes I have a hard time wrapping my brain around spending hundreds of dollars for a few bucks worth of resin and a dry-brush paintjob.

I'm also of the school that if you drop the price to a more regular "consumer-friendly" range, your profit margin may drop per unit, but in turn, you'll sell more units, make more poeple happy and get more product out to the masses.

More happy customers = more "advertising impressions" with potential new customers.

Potential Buyer: "Hey, that's a really cool widget from that awesome movie! How much was it?"

Buyer: "Pretty expensive. Over $300, but I really wanted it so I sold a kidney. Don't worry, I've still got a perfectly good organ left to filter toxins."

Potential Buyer: "Um...yeah...That's a nice widget..."

OR:

Potential Buyer: "Hey, that's a really cool widget from that awesome movie! How much was it?"

Buyer: "Only $100. I just had to lay off the McDonalds for a month to save, but I'm good to go!"

Potential Buyer:"Whoa! I'm gonna go get one myself and tell all my other nerd friends, too!"

See?

Things like Lightsabers & lighted Enterprise replicas are one thing. Machined parts, lights & circuits, etc., but resin, paint and hinges?

And, I think a lot of these kinds of replicas look better in pics than in person, but then again, that's what makes them so "accurate" I guess :D

Am I wrong? Tell me.

And does anybody know what the original chest was made of?

Steve

HI,
All the ones I handled in the prop room were resin and or rubber. As far as I was told by the propmaster there were no real wooden ones made for screen use.
Hope this helps,

I never actually thought that the chest was made of wood.. I always saw it as a metal chest... hmmmmmm anyways, that looks like what it is, an old rusty metal chest

Exactly! It's not supposed to be a wood chest. All chests from that period that had a locking mechanism like that under the lid, were all made of iron throughout. If anything on the chest might be wood, it would be the tentacle sections being carved out of wood, but given the contents inside, I would bet it would be all iron.

I'll second this I know its suppose to be metal of some kind, I have guessed bronze outside iron inside.
