Still a work-in-progress. I started with the licensed replica but heavily weathered each page and did some custom paint work to more closely match both the hero version and the recent Propstore auction version. Looks great in person.
I primarily used an acrylic wash, with a mixture of browns and grays. For the pages, it gave them a satisfying browning that I couldn’t achieve with tea or coffee. Very painstaking because of the drying. I used the same technique for the cover, blotting and drying periodically, which not only gave it a nice dusty effect but also toned down the glossiness of the latex “skin.” I also carefully crumpled and singed the pages with a lighter. Turned out better than I hoped!
