Re: DC/Maryland Conventions...2013

Looks like you guys had a blast! We caught sight of The Hulkbuster. My kids got a photo with em.

Re: DC/Maryland Conventions...2013

We had a great time at Baltimore Comic-Con. My daughter entered the costume competition as Aela the Huntress from Skyrim (not a comic book character, but whatever) - she didn't win anything, but she got a lot of attention. Here are a couple of photos:

The armor is all foam-core painted to look like steel with hot glue for the scroll design. There's aluminum costume chainmail leg armor that I made ring-by-ring. The bracelets and bracers are masking tape stretched over a flower arranging wire frame, again, painted to look like steel. I made the rest of the outfit from a store-bought but heavily modified 'Barbarian' costume and sword/shield, some cheap faux fur legwarmers and her mom's moccasin slippers. The whole thing probably cost about $100 - well worth it - she was thrilled at all the requests for photos. My photos don't do it justice.

I saw the Shadow Trooper - that's a really nice set of armor. Noticed lots of Spidermen and Supermen, so not sure if I saw folks from RPF.

Wow! That is a great outfit! And for $100 bucks! Sweet!

Yeah, I noticed all the Spidermen were being pulled to the main lobby:lol

I made my rounds upstairs and got pulled into some crazy camera panning section! I really get pumped when I see myself suited up, so hopefully we see something soon.

I go to Shore Leave every year. Not sure if anyone on here goes regularly. It's small but I always enjoy myself. Actually, this year I am breaking down and cosplaying Rose Tyler. Crossing my fingers I get it done well. LOL

From Awesome-Con newsletter:

CALLING ALL SUPERHEROES...
[/h]The Museum of Science Fiction, the world’s first comprehensive science fiction museum, and Awesome Con are inviting costumed superheroes to Washington, DC on April 18, 2014, in an attempt to break a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record. This attempt for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Comic Book Characters will happen at the U.S. Capitol Reflecting Pool at noon, just hours before the start of Awesome Con 2014 at the Washington Convention Center.
Many attendees at Awesome Con and other similar conventions dress in superhero-style costumes, a practice known as cosplay. To celebrate the start of Awesome Con, we invite you to help us break the current record set at World Joyland in China: 1,530 people dressed as comic book characters. We know we can break that record and mark Washington, DC as THE CAPITAL CITY OF COSPLAY.
An adjudicator from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS will be on hand to count and qualify all costumed participants. The guidelines state that the characters must have first appeared in comic books, partial costumes will not be counted, and that costumes can’t be shared between two or more participants. Please click here for the PRE-APPROVED CHARACTER LIST from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS, and all the details. Tell your friends! Invite your neighbors! Bring the kids - we know it's Spring Break for a lot of locals, so throw some superhero fun into your schedule! We can't wait to see 1,531 awesome superheroes in front of the U.S. Capitol!

I like Shore Leave. There are plenty of costumers, but it is on the smaller side. I usually have a "walking around costume", but nothing elaborate. If you're still interested
