Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

So I tried to do as much pepping as possible before getting to the fibreglass stage, but the fiddliness of the V1 files (those grooves!) were just too much. Never mind. I'll wait patiently for the V2 files :)

Hey man I feel your pain the v1's kicked my ass lol but there is a member on here called omarbau1 and his mark 7 files are awesome if you wanna start building asap

hey guys although I have meany of omarbau1's files myself, I'd still say from looking at the V2 teaser pics that it is would be well worth the wait... I'm using omarbau1's files as sort of a test bed for fiberglassing and bondo so that I'll be ready for "the real deal" when the time comes, being the fist time I've ever done something like this. But yeah, go for it :thumbsup all I'm saying (if I'm saying anything) is the V2 is worth the wait ;)

dose anyone know how to delete a post ? I can only edit... my computer is messing with me so I accidentally posted the same thing twice and I couldn't just delete the text I had to wright something else and this is it :facepalm

Hey there guys, i'm brand new to forum and have began work on a build myself, just finished rondo on my helmet and found it to be a tad too small, even though i made a tester helmet lol

but my question/request is for pdf of the files, either the foam or the regular. I attend university and have access to a laser cutter and it uses adobe to print. Since I feel that cutting is where most of my time goes i think it would be tremendous help to be able to have a machine cut for me. If anyone could point me in direction of getting the files ready myself i am very open to that.

please and thanks for your time

lol there is no big deal, darkside and i exchanges our ref pics and alot of tips according the suit.
i believe that both our model are highly accurate but they are different in the way they are modelled...
i think both darkside and i are really good model ;) !

I wasn't trying to dis you or your model in any way and I'm sorry if where offended by anything I said. All I was saying was, darkside's V2 is worth waiting for :popcorn

I concur. There are several times when I accidentally post something twice and I'm forced to edit the excess post to a comment I never was intending to say in the first place. :p

Finished upper part of the shoulder bell. Wanted to share!

Sadly, I may have to put the project on hold as I can't work outside with the weather we have in belgium and haven't a well ventilated place to work inside. Styrene fume and pregnant woman are highly discouraged. I'll work on the armor as long as the weather allow me and I have to ask my boss if I can work in our CSI Lab but if I can't, I won't be able to work before next spring AT LEAST (yeah, I guess I won't have much time with twins on the way ^^)

One question concerning the fingers: do you fiberglass these? Seems troublesome to fiberglass so small parts. Resin + bond on the parts wouldn't be enough?

WOW awesome job on the bells !
i suggest u wetsand it to make it even smoother ;)
for the styrene stuff... you can use epoxamite as a resin for the fiberglass.. it has no fumes at all !
i know the weather can be frustrating when you want to do outside work ( im in quebec so its even worse haha)
you should make a thread man ! your project is getting really great !

Well, I wetsand the bell but had still some trouble with multicolor putty (uneven strengthener quantity) persisting through paint job.

This is my second finished piece ever so there's is still place for improvement! I just actually don't have time to spend for ultra smoothness :D I'll keep the 'super' smoothness level haha

Resin isn't the problem as everything except fingers and helmet is fiberglassed and resined. Problem is there isn't good non-toxic alternative for polyester putty. I won't make a complete armor with milliput :D

If I didn't want to start a new thread is because there's already a lot of Iron Man threads and I'm slow to progress (first cosplay ever, wanted a full motorized Iron Man suit...kinda crazy ^^)

I'm really impressed with your MK7 files, they are excellent, accurate and easy to build! I have to admit that I'll try to build an arm with you files and I took the collar pieces of your chest to complete Darkside's chest.

Thanks for the cheers :)

Thanks guys... This is true, everyone does things a little differently and some may prefer one over the other. It is just too bad that I am too busy to get much time to finish the model. I want to finish it so badly. ;)

Very nice, I did put one layer of fiberglass cloth in my fingers for extra support. That was on the pepakura parts... when I made a cast of the finger parts I can make the resin thicker so that it does not need fiberlgass.

BTW... here are the casts of my gauntlets that I will be making soon, not pictured are the light pods that go in the center of the gloves:

Hey, would i be able to have the password for these files please? Cant wait to get started

Dude! Seriously?

What part of password in first post didn't you understand?

Reading what the good man took the time to write for you in the first post would be a good idea, my friend.

Lol i didn't see that. My brain kind of mixed the password protected and ask for special permission part. Damned skim reading

I am just about to start Resining, and then glassing the helmet, and had a question regarding the cutting stage.
I have looked both on this board and at the 405, and am still not 100% which method is best, especially for this model.

I have the faceplate and jaw clipped to the main helmet inside, and am about to resin.
How do you line up the cut lines once the bondo has been applied (i.e. how does that match with the edges already inside?)
Do I glass over the inside lips and make that thicker, so the cut has some buffer?

On the same topic, do i need to lay some extra glass layers around the side of the helmet so i can dremel out the groove?

thanks for making it fun!
