Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

I have decided to spot glue, with superglue, the 3 pieces together (forget about the clips inside), and the glass over the joins inside to give some width and hope I can cut into those ridges when i dremel (same as side seam).
Hope thats the right choice. :)

Greetings,

Long time reader, first time poster. Just a quick question (maybe it was asked, but I haven't found it yet).

Has anybody tried using a CNC machine to cut the foam? I have a guy that has a CNC machine, and he's pretty sure it can be done, but I'm not so sure. I figure the bit would either rip the foam or just melt it.

Any input would be appriciated.

Thanks for all the hard work all of you put into this community.

Finished the other shoulder bell and the upper forearm!

Have to finish the lower forearm and the glove+fingers for next week! GO GO GO!

Looks amazing. I can't believe these start as paper! Very interested to see the glove! (I need a set myself)

It's not foam, it's paper, resin and "bondo" with a lot of sanding (from 60 grit to 800 wet sanding) so it's normal to have a smooth result. It's far from perfect but I'm still happy with it :) Thanks!

how long do you spend for doing one part? the sanding spends a lot of time right?

For one part...I would say 40-50 hours for bondo stage but I don't work fast. It's difficult to count precisely as I work on multiple parts in the same time.

And I don't think your helmet is "kinda fail". The worst critics about your work is yourself as your eyes is attracted to every mistakes, scratches, bumps, pinholes...but other people only see the general aspect. Yes your helmet may be improved but it's no failure at all ;)

Thanks buddy, yeah, maybe it's not accurate but I haven't check it on reference pictures before and it has a purpose, I know where I have to stop the upper forearm in the lower forearm ;)

i see, it's really quite a long time for bondo. i might try apply it on my foam helmet too. ikr, but i still don't really like the result, not the color but the way i cover the edges still wasn't good enough. still need to make another better helmet.

No fail here, sir!!! That looks damn good and I know about things not being perfect! But you did a great job on that and you should be proud! If I may ask, is that your first foam build?

Thanks dude, i know things can't be perfect but it's still not what i want yet. i might need to find out some times to build another helmet. Yea it's my first foam build.

at first i thought it was paper-resin build. . .until i read the "made of foam" line. . . :lol great job. . .and seriously, this isn't fail :thumbsup looking forward for more of your progress :thumbsup

Thanks dude, but i'm still not really satisfy with the result yet. once i finish another helmet i will post it here
