Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hi guys, I didn't been around for some time....
I take a look at this post, and maybe you guys, didn't see this.

here a screencap of the movie, and in my opinion how the mk7 suit arc reactor looks like, I made this in flash, because in Photoshop is impossible, and i don't have ilustrator now. its only to show how it looks, maybe someone can re-do it in auto-cad, or any other to have the right shape and proportions.

maybe I am wrong.

let me know

Hi guys, im sorry im kinda noob about scaling and i just downloaded the files (thanks darkside!!!!) and i see there are diferent default scales between some files, some are 2100.. and some are 2300... so i was wondering can i change the scale for the 2100... files to 2300... and then scale them to 1950.... so it feets me, or should i leave the files like that and scale them to 1950... directly? I hope you guys can help me out! Thanks!

Oh Darkside lookie what I've done with your back file.

Iron Man Mk7 Motorized Wingflaps - YouTube

This was way old. I haven't taken a new video of it yet. I already installed fans under it and lights. :thumbsup

That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing.

The scale is universal cause it is the size of the model as it was made in the 3D program that determines the scale of each part when compared to another part. The arm files scaled at 23 will fit the rest of the suit scaled at 23. If you adjust the arms to 19.50 and the rest of the suit to 19.50 then they will fit together.

Note: This doesn't mean that they will necessarily fit you. You will have to use the measurement tool and determine what is the exact scale you need to use for each piece. Also, several people have reported issues with the proportions of the arms... This is not a big surprise since they were the first parts I modeled on this suit. So be aware that you might need to modify those parts.

The default scale is 23, the other scales are from earlier in the project when mockups weren't mare to check sizes. Just make them your scale and always be checking of everything will fit you.
And a word of warning, if you are using 19.5 as your standard size, that is very small. I'm very skinny and 5"10 and the an section only just went around me.
Hope this helps (if it doesn't, search this thread, many scaling questions have been answered)

Do a quick mockup in 23 and see how that goes (You might have to try 22 or maybe lower, especially on the legs from your height :) ), the piece that is most importantly scaled is the abs though. They're the most tedious to build, but also the most important to be scaled right as they need to fit properly and also fit under the chest. Hope this helped

P.S... YOUR PROFILE PICTURE! Did you make that? Where did you find it?! HOW!

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Can I ask a possibly dumb question regarding the boots? Are the boots coverings for other shoes you wear under them, and if so, how do you scale that? I wear a size 12 shoe, but if I were to measure outside of my shoe, it'd be bigger than 12", right?

Thanks

You can do it either way... build the IM boot to fit over a slim shoe (like a converse) or make the IM boot into an actual shoe. Most people I have seen have built it to go over a pair of there shoes.

Put on the shoes you want to use and trace the outline of the sole on a piece of paper or cardbaord. Then you have something to help you in your build.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Quick question:

On the first page there are 3 iron man boots/shoes we can use; Robo's, Zabana's and Zabana's modified by DarkSide501. So my question is which boot bends when we walk? I know Robo's doesn't have any articulation (but looks easier to build out of cardstock) but both Zabana's boot and the modified boot by Darkside doesn't seem to have any articulation either when I see it in the pepakura designer or Viewer??? Any help :)

Zabana's boot does have articulation. Im not too sure about the modified one by Darkside but i think it does as well.

Heres this too just to show you (from Zabana's youtube channel): Iron man boot, first test - Costume replica - YouTube

Hope it helps :)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

I've been scanning these forums and decided to finally join to ask a question. Concerning my mk VII project, i'm not sure if this has been discussed already, but I'm kinda new to the whole servo idea, but i've learned sooo much since i started reading these forums in the past few months.

I need just a basic servo/hinge set up for my faceplate. I just want to set up the servo to move the faceplate up and the chin down using a push button positioned behind my jaw on the helmet. And pushing the button again moves the faceplate and chin back to its original position. Kinda like a forward/reverse effect.

Got a separate idea for lighting the eyes. Not worried about that.

You guys are great!!!
Thanks in advance

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Zabanas Boot does have 1 point of Articulation... if made Correctly.

MY boot has 2 points of Articulation, but it's more of a Mark 2 Boot, rather than the Mark 7.

IronMaided just did the FOAM Unfold for it... Download on my Misc 3D Page, if you're interested.
