Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

hey sorry for a noob question, but there are cuts where you cut out a triangle shaped piece, but there are not tabs, like at the forehead of the helmet. Are we supposed to glue the pieces together by holding them and gluing from the back?
Thanks and happy 2014

I'm looking over the helm pep files and I don't see any triangular pieces without tabs. Can you post a shot of the piece you are talking about?

Oh I see! On some pieces of the pep those "triangular" cuts are needed when connecting the tabs to their partner piece to allow for small bends or curves to form. The paper cant create complex curves on its own, so those small cuts help your pep to take shape as you go. There will be small gaps at times, but once you resin the piece and glass the inside those small spaces are easily filled when you add your bondo coats to the outside.

Darkside, thanks for taking the time to create these files and for continuing to respond to posts. Stealth, if your still listening, damn you and your awesome instructional videos for getting me addicted to prop building.

Anyways my forum friends like a few of you out there, I'm having some trouble with the bicep preventing me from bending my arm. I originally had the piece scaled to 25 but now scaled it down to 23.5 and I cut a few strips out of the bottom of it to give me some more room to bend my arm. It's better but still doesn't feel optimal. Just looking for some suggestions/advice and maybe some additional constructive criticism on the arm itself.

For some reason I can't upload the photos directly so here's a link to my dropbox with the pictures.

Thanks in advanced for the input guys.

Haven't got to the biceps yet, but here is my upper chest plate

As for the bicep, where is it restricting? I would assume at the point where the bicep meets the elbow. Drew a red line where Im talking about.

I would try cutting that out, hope it helps.

Jep! The arms aren't really moveable. Just finished mine last night. Cant reach my own head anymore. That prette messed up.
Cutting out that piece in the bicep might be an option. What i think is a big problem is that the rond hinge parts were the big screws go in, arent parallel. The run from narrow in the front to wider at the back. Wich causes the forearm to sqeeze at a certain point. dont know if i can change it now, since its finished.

Anyway here are some pics of my progress.
Left arm:

Neck that opens and close, incl brace (with underarmor details) and upper chest plate attached.

Chest piece looks good. I'll probably move onto the that when I finish the arm. I cut out part of that section of the bicep/elbow before and it helped. I was paranoid about cutting anymore because I was afraid it wouldn't look right, guess I just have to man up and do it. Thanks for the input.
:thumbsup

Cool, thanks for the tip. Keep us updated with some pics. I'm trying to convince my boss to purchase a 3d printer so I can use it for the hands. I'm doing a paper pep now but ofcourse a 3d printed one would be better.

Thanks! :)

And the silver is childsplay. Buy chrome paint. Let it dry for 3 days. gently sand it in 1 direction with a scotchblock. Ad dark details with acryl paint in corners. JOB DONE!

NICE job on the paint. I love the look of the Silver part of the Collar. :thumbsup

DAMN NICE JOB.

Jay, What did you coat your pieces with? They look awesome!

Every part is made of fiberglass. Filled and sanded with Bondo.
Silver parts are painted chrome and sanded down with a scotblock.
Red paint, i first sprayed it with a dark cherry red, and the added the bright red of my choice, to get a paint that looks dark in shadows and bright red in sunlight.
