Hi
just wondering if anyone has some good techniques for adding the fibreglass lip to the rear helmet piece (the piece with magnets that you use to get your head in).
I'm wondering how to get the glass nice and flat, and aligned with the inside of the helmet? Ho may layers of glass do you normally use?

i also need to redo the lip inside the jaw that the faceplate rests on. Same question there, how do I get the glass nice and square and flat?
Do you guys built something to press it against?

thanks again,
Chris

Finished with Pep, working on fiberglassing now, figured I would show and update... DSCN9693.JPG

I've been documenting everything, down to the time...have to add it all up, but here's the link to pictures of the entire process from start to present...if anyone's interested....

Wow! love your progress pictures! It really shows how much work is involved in putting everything together. I'm sure I"m not the only one looking forward to the finished product!

Hey everyone,

First of all I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone that has contributed to this thread and the whole forum, Without it I wouldn't know what I was doing!!

As you have probably guessed I am a total Noob and just have a quick question to ask: I have downloaded the files and have printed the chest piece out and on pages 4,5,9,10,17 & 18 there are some incredibly small thin pieces which are very difficult to cut out and even more difficult to fold and glue, are these pieces necessary I assume they are otherwise they wouldn't be there? would it make much difference if I left them out?

Any advice is appreciated and I apologise if I have asked something that has already been asked but I have tried reading through most of this thread but as it is 153 pages I thought it might be quicker asking the question. I am aware that I am probably missing something though !!

Thanks.

The pieces you are talking about are most likely part of the grooves. You can build it without the grooves but you may have to cut out some other strips and do the tabless building method to maintain the groove spacing.

Hi,
I'm after a little advice. Glassed and then rhondo'd the helmet.
after bonding the outside, all symmetrical and nice, I have cut the faceplate. It has pulled in a little so the sides don't line up right.
i have tried using the hinges to push it out, but not a great result.

would applying a heat gun allow me to "stretch" it out again?
or do I just slap some more bondo onto it?

Thanks...

You can use a heat gun to make it flexible then you must hold it in the new shape while it cools. I know this works on fiberglass but I am not sure about Rhondo. It might depend on how thick the Rhondo is.
