Ok everyone... I have a little bad news. The square wire I got is not working out. I have been messing around with it for the last couple weeks trying different methods that will allow you guys to get a custom fit without too much trouble. The wire I initially found is just too stiff and too thick.

I have found a smaller gauge square wire but I have to order it directly from the manufacturer. Once I order it they will have to make it and then ship it. They are estimating 4-5 weeks. Also, the minimum order is 25lbs which is like 3000ft. It is going to be a big bill but I won't ever run out of the damn stuff, LOL.

Anyways, this is obviously going to cause a delay for anyone that wants the square wire. I am still looking around to see if I get lucky and find some square wire somewhere else. So I am just checking to see if you guys want the round wires now or would you rather wait for the square wire later. I still think that I could get the square wire claws out for Halloween as long as the wire manufacturer doesn't drop the ball on my order. Just send me a PM to let me know what you want to do. If I don't here from you then I will leave your order to wait on the square wire.

I thought the idea you had with making the wire separate and cut it to size when we got it seemed ok. What happened?

The wire I got was so stiff that twisting it is nearly impossible and so when it came time to adjust the splay of the claws then the claws were breaking before the wire was twisting. The original method of getting custom fit claws is still the best in my opinion. I tested several different ways of trying to use the square wire I already have... believe me, I didn't want to have to waste it either. The skinnier wire should be just about as easy to bend as the original round wire I was using.

Also, I forgot to mention that for those of you who want to get there claws without delay and decides to go with the round wire... if you payed the increased price for the square wire then I will refund the difference.

Well the wait sucks but if you can get them out by Halloween then I'll wait. Quality always means a wait. Thanks for being upfront and honest about it. Looking forward to October.

Hmm well..... Here's a thought. You said they were too hard to bend and splay once done right? If the wire was a bit thinner it would possibly work better correct? I know you probably did this, but can't hurt to ask.. Did you by chance try cutting the wire length wise down the center to make it "thinner" and see if that worked? If so, and it didnt, then I have me a decision to make...

There is really no good way of cutting a solid steel wire down to size the amount of time and wear n tear on equipment I have access to would be very cost prohibitive. It would be more like shaving off material on two sides to get a smaller square wire but there is just no good way of doing it. I think the way they do it in a mill is with large pieces of equipment with big rollers that they can adjust then the material is pushed through and squeezed down to the right size. I am not sure if the material is heated or not during this process.

Cool, thanks for the info. The wire I ordered is .086 inches which is 2.18mm thick. It should be very comparable to the real deal. Of course, my claws are also 1/4in thick.

If you think you can get the new wires and they work and get it out before Halloween I guess I will follow suit.

As long as the square wire comes in on time then I am sure I can still get out these orders by Halloween. The assembly will be just like with the round wires as shown in the video on the first post.
