;) repeat customer do get a discount and you can always sell your current set on ebay if you wanted. Wolverine claws never get old, lol.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

Oh I'd have to keep my current set...I'd just order an XO since that was my next favorite. I'll keep that in mind, glad you went with the square ones though, I'd agree on you bending em for us, it was a pain for me!

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

I think I'm more interested in the prebent wire system you figured out . What would the time line be one getting these ?

Yeah, this method would not have worked with the round wires but I can do it this way now that I am using square wires. I will have to make a new assembly instructional video, lol.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

I too like the idea.. Superglue is extremely useful, and if need be, you could always use e-6000 glue, which is extremely durable, but it does heat up when curing so no telling what it could do to the claw. Superglue is probably the better way to go, and cutting a piece off the claws seems more manageable then trying to bend them and get them perfect. I like the idea, and you don't have to worry about the wire "showing through" like the ones in the first video.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

Which means saving you money too in the long run in regards to saving from having a bad cure and the wire being too far on one side and almost poking through ( depending in how you'd create the hole in the claw for the wire)

You are on the right train of thought, although, I would not have had that many defects if any more at all... that was the first claw I cast with the square wire. I did not anticipate that issue but now that I know it could happen I can prevent it. The biggest drawback to embedding the wire in the claw like I first tried is the extra time it would take to make sure the wire was bent perfectly flat so that would not happen. With the new method the wire just goes straight in and therefore I do not have to ensure that the bend is perfectly flat which saves me a little time. As for the shadow from the wire... that would not have been an issue once the resin was tinted and the metallic powder was covering the surface of the claw.

Also, it would be a good idea to use a superglue that would give you some time to get the right height of the claw on the wire before it sticks. I have seen some that are labeled for extra time. This would be important in the case that you cut a little too much off the wire or if the wire was a little too short to begin with but I will make sure that it is long enough to fit most hands. You might have trouble if you are Andre the Giant's size.

Thanks for your input.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

Ok the new video is up. I am just showing an idea that I came up with that will allow you all to get a great fit with the claws without having to bend any wires.

This looks like a great idea. I wish you'd been doing them this when when I bought my claws! It took *ages* to get them bent properly, lol. Oh well! They're done, and ready for FanExpo next week, woo! :D Still, I may have to keep a new sent in mind sometime! ;) Also, I will try to get a good pic of my whole costume next weekend to show off. :)

Yeah, sometimes I feel bad about making improvements on my design but then I remind myself that learning and making improvements is just part of prop making and I could not have made it to this point without all the support from you guys that have previously purchased my claws. That is why I offer you all a discount on future purchases. So... Thank you.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures from your event.

I totally understand! And I've actually got the claws to *mostly* stop wobbling in the grips - I trashed the Plastidip so bad trying to get them sized that I stripped it and painted on a fairly thick coat of liquid latex. One of them is *too* thick, so I'll have to fix that this weekend, but they don't move any more, and I still have loads of latex if I need to redo them at some point.

But I'll see how it goes next weekend and might order from you again - I'm still considering getting one of the bloody sets for stabby photo ops, lol! :)

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

So, can we order for a pair of Wolverine claws with square wires already? If so, when can we pay? :)

That's why I suggested e-6000 cause it takes a while to cure. Only problem is I dunno what it would do to the claws themselves cause its the kind of glue that heats up as it cures which could cause issues with the claw itself. The superglue would be better.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

I don't think there would be enough e-6000 in there to heat up enough to damage anything... that and these claws don't melt, lol You have to get them up to like 150 degrees for a few minutes in order for them to become pliable but that is as far as it goes. I think e-6000 cures to retain a little flexibility and that would concern me but if you wanted a less permanent solution then that could be one way to go.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

I have some questions:

Does the above offer include all claw styles?

I noticed the square wire doesn't have a bend in the mold itself, so is there any worry of it pulling out of the claws?

Is there a comfort difference between the fingers with round vs square?

Yes, I will be putting my square wires in all the style claws and if you ordered more than one style I will upgrade you to the square wires for each set you ordered at no additional cost.

I think that if you glue the claw on the wire then it would be very secure. You could even make a couple small notches in the square wire on the part that will be put in the claw so that the glue will run into that notch and help hold it in the claw like a barb on a fishing hook.

The square wires seem to be just as comfortable as the round wires which surprised me a little. I have not yet worn a set all day at a convention though. ;)

I'll take the square wires as well. Quality is worth waiting for! Thank you for the very generous offer!

Ok, got you moved to the Sept run for the square wires.

I think I'm more interested in the prebent wire system you figured out . What would the time line be one getting these ?

I would be making new molds between now and the end of the month so I would start making the claws with square wires in September.

So, can we order for a pair of Wolverine claws with square wires already? If so, when can we pay? :)

At this time I am not taking any additional orders. I will determine how many more spots I will offer for the Sept run at the end of the month.

I think I have responded to everyone... I really hate the rule that newcomers posts have to be moderated and then when approved are inserted into the thread at the time they made the post... It makes it so hard to follow up with your questions. If I missed anyone then please send me a PM.

Darkside...Don't knwo if you're aware of this Jim Winant Jr/ IamLogan fella of the Snikt shop https://www.facebook.com/SniktShop ...Wouldn't sell to this guy, he'll just recast your claws and sell em as his own.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

That dude is such a ripoff artist/crook. Too many people have been burned and/or stolen from by him. Not only that, but notice the only people on that Facebook page are always the same people and/or alts of his own to make himself look good

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

Hell I'd love to do some of the stuff that a lot of you guys do, but it would take more money then I can spend to do it ( too much of a perfectionist) right now. And I would never ever think of taking credit for someone else's artistry. It's just plain wrong.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

Hi Mike, I was wondering, you demonstrated how to adjust the claws once they're already in the grip at the end of your Assembly Instructions video - now, with the tougher square wires, would the fine tuning be done in the same way (shaping by hand) or would you recommend using pliers instead?

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - New square wire!

Brand new member here, chose to use my first post to compliment you on your claws - they're freaking amazing!
