Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

Is it against the law to walk around with those claws there?

No...I have a pair that a friend of mine sold to me a while back, and I've used those out in public before with no worries....I'd say the line is about the same as the US, but with less chance of being shot by a policeman? If they were knives, yes..They'd be stopped at customs, but since they're not, they're fine to ship in and ok to wear within reason....

Just keep in mind that if a cop is pointing a gun at you and telling you to drop the knifes... it is probably best not to role play the similar scene from X-Men 2:

Police Officer: Drop the knives and put your hands in the air. I said, drop the knives!
Logan/Wolverine: This is just a misunderstanding—
Police Officer: Put the knives DOWN!
Logan/Wolverine: I can't.

Instead... just comply and put the claws on the ground. ;)

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

Yeah...Agreed...Although while the cops here carry "guns", they're not going to pull them, and if they did, don't carry the ammo unless it's been predecided to arm them (Riot police perhaps)...So I'm highly unlikely to get anything more than a "harsh questioning"...Hehe..

But that said, that's only Japan...And yeah, even then, carrying around the claws while doing "normal" things is asking for trouble....Heh...

What's the chances of getting a set to michigan before Halloween if payment was placed this coming Monday. Also what's the difference between the wolverine and origins. Sorry kinda new to PayPal.

There is a very good chance of that. You can place an order when you are ready. Just follow the instructions on the first post.

The two styles are completely different. One of the main differences is that the Origins style was also pretty much the same in all of the X-Men movies to date. It has a part of the claw that wraps up over the knuckle and helps to sell the 'coming out of the hands' look. The Wolverine style claws sit a little lower on the knuckles and do not have that part. Besides that the shape and details of the two claws are completely different. Take a look at the HD pictures on the first post to compare the two.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I received my XO Claws and couldn't be happier with them. really well done, and once built, they feel so damn good in your firsts.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I sent you a PM with some advice on fine tuning the fit on your claws. Enjoy.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

Two more spots open on the September run... guaranteed for Halloween. I could probably do more now that I have help in my shop but we will start with the 2 spots that are left.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

Man, nobody else wants a set of claws for Halloween?

Also, update on the square wire. I checked with the manufacturer and he said the wire would ship out next week but he did not specif what day. There is a decent chance I will be able to get the claws to you you guys on the October run (square wires) in time especially if you live in the USA.

I might be willing to switch over to the round wires if you're looking for someone to fill the September roster? I don't mind you keeping the extra dollars for the squares, but after the video you posted, I think I might be safer with the round wires anyway? So I was thinking about ordering a second set? If that's cool, throw me on in September instead of the October run with round wires, not squares?

I'd be ok with that..

Can you give any advice on how to keep 'the wolverine' claws from rotating once they are on my hand? I've tried everything. The ducktape and paper towels I used to hold them in place ain't working. I even recoated the wires with the rubber stuff. Ideas?

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

Hahah...Maybe I'm better off sticking to the square wires then eh?

No worries...Leave me on those! (Ignore my post before this one...Basically.)

comonbub - The Wolverine claws might have a little harder time than the Origins claws because they don't have that part that comes up over your knuckles. I don't think that you would be able to completely prevent rotation on either set with the round wires. The rubber coating only helps to keep them in place. If you have a good tight fit on the claws and the rubber coating is good then they claws should not be rotating around when you are holding the claws. Also, if your grips are becoming distorted at all then that could be a problem too. You can warm up the plastic and get those back into shape. If you want to try something else instead of the rubber coating then I would either do a few tight layers of electrical tape or try some heat shrink tubing. See how that works.
fifthchamber - I will keep you on square wire for now... I wouldn't say I need people on the September list especially if they are just moving over from the October list but if you do decide you want your claws sooner rather than later then let me know.

Thanks mate...

Sorry to mess ya about too....

Had a martial arts demo all day today and met Hatsumi Masaaki (Ninja guy, head of the Bujinkan)...Which meant I was out of net access, but thanks for understanding what I meant!

Regards..

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

Well, I was told the square wire was shipping out this week but it still has not shipped. This means that I probably won't be able to get any of the square wire claws made and shipped in time for Halloween. :( I know a couple of you mentioned that if you couldn't get the square wire claws in time then you would just take the round wire claws. Please confirm with me. If you want to be moved from the square wire claws to the round wire claws so that you can get your claws in time for Halloween then let me know by posting here or sending me a PM.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Halloween is approaching

I would definately contact your supplier and ask them why you were given confirmation that they would be shipped out this week and have not been. That effects your own obligations when they can't hold up to theirs and that isn't right for them to not even inform you if there were complications getting your order out. And I've really never heard of a company not giving at least an estimated date that an item would be shipped out.
