yep, cowl is definitely a new sculpt. The suit looks quite different from both flash and RF. It's definitely awesome, even more with the blue lightning bolts jumping around him.

That cowl almost has to be hand sculpted, it has such an organic look to it

They are similar, but they're definitely not the same. It is a totally new sculpture for the character.

As for the cowl, I am fairly certain it's a one piece. They tried a two piece on the second Flash cowl and it didn't work out, so they went back to one piece for the Reverse Flash. I doubt they'd try two pieces again for this one. It also looks to be foam latex just like the Flash and RF cowls were, but silicone is certainly a possibility... Unlikely, but a possibility nevertheless..

Really, Foam Latex? Why are all the cowls I see Urethane Rubber if the originals were foam latex? I need to educate myself on materials better so I can identify and know the pros and cons of each. Thanks for the info!

Foam latex is a lot more difficult to run, and it is much more susceptible to deteriorating and dry rotting. If I had to guess, most makers here just can't run foam, for a variety of reasons... Lack of info, no core, no oven, etc.

What are the advantages to it? Why do they use it?

It's flexible, breathable, very light weight, can be glued down easily, can be cast thin without risk of ripping, can be cast to a core for accurate fit, more comfortable for the actors over long shoots, etc. etc. It's also very easy to constantly and consistently pigment and paint foam latex, where urethane is a pain to paint even for the professionals.
Those are all I can think of at the moment.

If anyone does a sculpt and a run of Zoom's mask I would be interested in about 3 or 5 of them for a display. I would love to build the suit as well.

Sorry for all the posts. Lots of angles in this episode. I think I got most of them.

I actually had to wait until everyone else seen a good screenshot of him.. as you know I am making accurate versions from 3D files :)
Not until he gets a good screen shot of zoom's full face in the light instead of that blurry bs. he said he will probably do a run. :)

I agree foam latex is what they would use..but as you said it deteriorates quick and its not as resilient as urethane.. I have no issues painting my cowls at all though :) I have 3-4yr old rubber helmets and cowls out there...used for events constantly by people who buy them and they are still going strong :)

Found these great shots on instagram.

The kid is clearly underage so I wont link his page here. Please do not ask for a link. Not sure what the rules are about that, but I figure it's better safe than sorry. Enjoy the pics!

The suit gets more confusing. The hands have the standard matte-ish lightning bolts but the chest and shoulders have a thicker glossy something. Looks all jumbled can't tell if it's also lightning.

The lighting also appears to change the chest piece too. Sometimes, it looks all black and other times, it looks black and silver, to me.
