custom cardboard R6 droid...scratch build.

hey all,
sorry for no updates, have had to take some time away from my R6 build, been suffering from intense face pain(trigeminal neuralgia)which made it very difficult to concentrate on daily life, let alone crafting:(...but fear not! after many different types of medication, the pain seems to be under control...HAZZAAR!

not much progress to show you, finding it hard to get motivation to get this project finished, must get my head together!
do any of you lose motivation & drive in your builds?
so, just the tray & centre leg finally together, few finishing touches to do DSC_0014.jpg OK, so that's all for now on R6, but!...whats the verdict on the leaked pics of the new stormtrooper helmets?...are you liking the new sleek designs? stormtrooper.jpg im still in two minds, i think they are lacking the menace factor

Awesome! And yes, I've found that it can sometimes be very hard to hold onto the motivation for a build, especially when you occasionally have to go days and days without being able to work on it. That's why I like to stick to an almost daily schedule with my builds, ie. Spend every moment you can working on it. That's the only way I can keep interested.

Kind regards, The14thDr

thank you for the great comments, I've neglected this build for a while, but planning on getting back to it soon!
dug out an old picture of an R6 head i started a few years agoIMG_24430497561877.jpeg learnt a lot since then.....so when i get around to building the new one, it should be a vast improvement:thumbsup
also found the measurements for R2 if anyone needs them

Looks great mate, amazing to think it is just "junk" you are using to build.

Congratulations on the forth coming memeber of your family as well & I dont mean the driod ;)

very very cool! you can say its a "green" droid with it being made out of cardboard! i love this idea! very good job!

Glad to see you back, Its hard to complete things sometimes.
I try and set a deadline when I get within the home straight, my birthday for instance. My Artoo has the same birthday as me because of that thinking, but he's 40 years younger. Also keep thinking how cool this is going to look in your workshop/house or wherever.
Because you only work on individual parts looking at the finished article never gets old, there's always a feeling like, "where did that come from?" :) looking great btw.

thank you 'captain pugwash'...'halliwax'...'spacebob'
it really is great to be part of this amazing community. looking at the awsome builds, having people there to encourage & inspire!

so!...taking encouragement from all the great comments, i took stock of what i had accomplished so far, gathered all crafting materials needed, finished some final details on the middle footDSC_0161.jpg DSC_0162~2.jpg DSC_0164-2.jpg DSC_0175-2.jpg...looking ok i think!?............so, raring to get this project moving along & then this happened!!!!!IMG_20141207_174134.jpg my beautiful daughter finally arrived:D

Just read through this whole thread. DUDE the build is simply awesome and even more so that it's made of cardboard!!!Really inspiring that with no funds you can still make something that knocks the ball right out of the park. Can't wait to see it finished. And congrats on your daughter. Kids are the best. :)

Oke, so yourt daughter just arrived. You can say your prob building days goodby.

just kidding. The time you will have for your build will be even less than you had before, but that won't be a problem. For example I made 2 mandalorian helmet prototype helmets before my daughter and son where born. Now my son just got his 1st bithday i'm working on my final version of the helmet. it took me 3,5 years but i'll get there.

Just take your time and remember being a dad is far more importand than being a prop/droid builder.

you'll get there, give it time

-R-

and congrats on your daughter

Congrats on the baby. I have two and still manage to prop build. As she gets older you can involve her. My oldest is 3 and he loves building SW stuff with daddy. Think about it. With the skills we are teaching them, how good they'll be at our age.

hey all:D
can i just start by saying a big thank you, for the kind words & congrats sent my way, cheers guys!
so, after many sleepless nights & what seems like a never ending nappy changing marathon, I've managed to find some time to get back into this build... HAZZAAR!!
its a long, ongoing build i know, but thanks to those who've stuck with me & provided much encouragement.

well, for some reason i keep getting logged out! and after writing the same stuff over n over & it not saving, im just gonna stick the pictures up, lol.

some of the panels & parts aren't stuck down yet, hence them looking flat, but the overall effect is pretty cool, I'm happy with the progress.
cheers for looking, any comments welcomed.
