Constantine holy water ampoules…

It could work. I remembers seeing ones that did not have seams. The challenge would be finding baubles in 5cm with the iridescence and no seams. It took a fair amount of trial and error to find the correct ones in glass. My Christmas tree this year is covered in clear glass baubles :).

For reference, these have no seam. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076DLSSTS
Yeah that would be the challenge. It’s probably easier to pickup decent priced glass ones. I am based in Germany, and I’ve managed to find a few options at the correct size. Just need to double check the cap fitting.

Here are my ampoules
I went for the easier way and did not paint the crosses (used painted masking tape and am not that unhappy with the final result)
A huge thank you to Mach

Nice work! What filament did you use for the tops? I tried printing with Polymaker PVB and ABS but wasn't happy with the results.

Funny that you're asking that once I think it can be printed with better results. I used basic PLA and some stripes can be seen on the caps.
Maybe with resin a better reult could be achieved?

I'm a resin printing beginner so you may have different results. I didn't get great results due to the design of the caps. Regardless of the orientation that I tried, I got failed cap prints but good results on other prints. So, I molded them after getting shapeways prints.

...or one exactly like that one.

Thing is, when I got it, cap probably moved during shipping, but the disgusting fact is that the liquid inside was clearly acetone because of 1) the smell and 2) it displaced most of the cross in parts throrough the sphere.

I sent it back to propstore to fix and they claim they broke it during handling (oh well).

Thing is, compared to the closeup shot ones, I don't believe these were either final ampules or whatever... Nor that they ever contained acetone, for obvious reasons. So I'm not sure what the heck Propstore sent me. I'm talking of like 10 years ago if not more.

So that being said, I find Mach ones more screen accurate than the actual "production" prop I got lol

Good job man!

Thank you, I'm glad you like them.

Interesting, the one that you bought was from the prop store in London? From this auction or another? 2021 Prop Store auction

The only advantages that I can think to using acetone is that it would remain clear and would not freeze. I would expect it to remove the iridescent coating that is on the inside of the bauble. How you'd seal it as well would be a challenge.

Yes, Propstore of London UK.

No, it was wayyyy before they started doing acutions on their own, they were selling on ebay first. I bought it there.

Agreed on the freeze but its not something you're sending thru greenland, and if we think about production only, distilled water would remain clear as well. Agreed on the seal, i do think that killed the seal during transit and leaked all around, disgracing it all over.

Definetly the finish on the cross was not what I'd consider a hero prop or close up prop. If it was a replica (that soon?) or just a prototype I don't know. Never heard back on that.

And on a second review, thanks Otto, there seem to be bubbles in it, like if they made copies in resin or something and perhaps the "saw" thing is just sanding off the cast...

We would still need the original cap tho.

Looks like sanded or filed resin to me also. The smallish bubbles look like a rush casting job.
