Re: Iron Man build using robo3687 files

I know, the foam builds seem like a more affordable and easier build but I personally have an issue with the final look, on the seems meeting... I just feel like if I was to go all out and do it, I would want it to look "metal" in the end, the foam is awesome though, not to take away from anyone doing it, I think I will try to find someone at NYCC to see it up close.
Hate to sound like a cop out, but I think Im more in the position to try to hopefully buy a suit when I see the opportunity.... I got the cheepo halloween suit last yr, and got a **** load of laughs cuz I look like RDJ. It only makes sense to take it all the way , right? ;)

yea, some of those are incredible, but my first would look like crap. lolllllllll Like I said, I do think the foam is a great option for some, But personally, I got a Mac for starters so I dont have a clue where I would get the blue prints printed cuz all the tutorial footage Ive seen with the Pepekura stuff is done on a PC. Thats first... then I feel like my foam cutting skills would end up looking like a summer camp arts and crafts project in the end. hahaha. What do ya think a good foam suit would go for around here?

Thanks everyone for the tips. Nothing special to show, but I thought I'd post some pictures (Rodson "projectearth7" reminded my I'm overdue for an update =P). I'll also update the earlier posts in this threads with some building tips people have provided me.

So attaching the chest and back then resin was a fail. I probably should have resined the back first, heat gun the back, then attached the chest, resined the chest, then apply the fiberglass. I resined the entire chest and back as 1 piece and when i went to check on how it was drying, it tipped over and was totally warped. Good times! In frustration I ripped the 2 pieces apart and threw them on the floor. Then I proceeded to fiberglass the parts that i damaged -_____- ....

I have the right handplate/fingers/hand pepped out as well, but no pictures.

Thanks dude... I'm doing a hybrid build similar to how blackdynamo did his. I'm stuck on the helmet right now trying to get it to my liking. Lot's of work!

Re: Iron Man build using robo3687 files

This is almost inspiring me to restart a fibreglass build., but not quite yet lol. Lookin forward to seeing the final piece. Whats your estimated completion time?

Hey thanks for the compliment bud. I wouldn't say my build is good (it's my first shot at this type of thing). I see a lot of flaws that I'm going to hope a clever paint job with a nice weathered effect will fix.
