Comic book green goblin mask!

Re: Comic book style green goblin mask!

It looks great, but I feel like the ears should tilt just a little bit back instead of straight up. They almost look like they tilt forward.

Thanks, I know what you mean. The ears for a little bit of a dilemma for me. I wanted to keep them more streamlined and had to be mindful of my molding process. However, after some consideration and some input I decided that it would be fine and I'm confident that when compared to the majority of green goblin related masks or helmets out there it will be far more successful and true to the character.

Re: Comic book style green goblin mask!

Here is a cast i did. This is actually the 4th one I've made!!!!! The first 3 were unusable. Long story short, after lots of trial and error and deducing i came to the conclusion that my batch of rigid urethane was no longer good. I contacted the manufacturer and they verified that it was a very old batch. It seems that even if you don't open your canister of plastic the clock is still ticking because they usually buy the materials in large quantities and sell them in smaller containers. Good to know...

That looks absolutely stellar. What are your plans for painting and finishing?

Thanks. No plans yet. This project was a request. I actually have to get back to my other project.

Here is as far as I'm taking the piece. As i mentioned i had a problem with my old batch of resin. It cured but it kept "sweating" this greasy substance that would not allow me to paint on. The piece still needs some care, a bit of sanding and patching but nothing too hectic. I made sure that it was able to be painted hence the black primer. Hopefully you guys like it. If i get some time down the road I'm going to make myself one.

The mask has been sent and received. I'm considering finishing one of my own when i get a chance. I'm kind of annoyed because i like this mask so much more than the hobgoblin mask i did last year, but i love the suit we built for it. Maybe i'll redo the hobgoblin mask too.

I had a rough day at work... and it made my day to receive and actually hold this in my hands today.

Don't worry, I'll take my time with the finishing and do this gorgeous sculpt justice!

...or whatever the villainous equivalent of justice is. . .

probably the the best complement yet.

Finally got around to making a copy for myself. I did a base coat of pea soup vomit, and then a light mist of dark green and then airbrushed some light brown for the shadows. I need to see a late before I move on. I'm going to try to add some purple around and maybe the mouth to tie in the purple and the hood that we will be making in time.

I post pretty much never but I just had to tell you how awesome this is. I think you nailed the green goblins look from the comic. I'm in the process of making a spiderman suit and would love to start a green goblin one when I'm done. If you ever decide to do a run on these masks let me know.

Thanks for for the compliment, I'm glad you like it. Just let me know when you want one. :)

Thanks :)
Here are a few more pics of the piece as it is. Im going to seal it so i can do some more painting. It's been too cold to paint so ive had to wait around...sucks

Awesome! The grin on his face is unmistakable :devil
Thanks! Redoing it a few times was really worth the work.

Got a chance to get some airbrush work done. I sealed the work that i had done then sunk the shadows back with a mist of yellow. I used a brown-green mix for another layer of mottling. Then i used some dark purple for around the eyes and some more layering.

I need to fine tune a few more things then work on the teeth.

Here is the finished piece. The teeth are done and all sealed. I just ordered a display bust for it. Way too costly. Im going to start designing the hood to be made and order some scales to finish it off. The straps can go on once i get the display bust.

Excellent! Amazing that you can do such art
thank you very much.

Looks amazing!!! Just needs some reflective silvery yellow lenses to make those eyes pop
if I ever decide to where I will probably just use yellow contacts. I think having human eyes showing will be more intense than lenses, sometimes they make the character seem lifeless. But I might try it...
