Clutch Pin/Insignia Construction?

I'd like to remove the pin pieces from the backs of a few clutch pins/insignias, but don't know how they are typically attached. Does anyone know how these are assembled? Glue, weld, ??? Thanks!

can't you just snap them off?i stood on one by accident and it just broke off.

I've not ruled that out. Ideally I want the back to be perfectly flat, and don't want warp/damage the face of the thing.

I'd just Dremel it off and then sand the back. Alternately, you could, as was suggested above, just snap it off, if I'm not mistaken they're just glued or lightly welded on, I don't think that they're an integral part of the pin.

Could just get the findings and skip the chance of damaging the pins... But yeah, for fastening, look up jewelry soldering and epoxying.
