Re: Obi Wan ANH Saber Crystal Chamber Kit ( update 1/21/16 plz read post # 474 )

WOO-HOO! Mail came today, & I got my chamber! &... everything fit perfect. Mine threaded right onto the booster perfectly. My only issue was, apparently the last time I put this lightsaber together, I REALLY torqued the s@#t out of it. I didn't think I would be able to take it apart. But, that was all my fault :lol. Eventually I was able to get everything apart, & back together again - this time with not so much oomph.
The chamber is beautiful, & very well made. Thank you Spirit of Ob1, for all your hard work :thumbsup , I think it's fantastic!

For the transistors, why aren't people screwing them onto the clamp with nuts on the inside of the clamp? No glue, no tape.

Looks amazing pincers and mburkit. How have people been ding with installing sound and electronics in their sabers?

The Photos so far of the sabres with there crystal chambers fitted look awesome...more photos please...When are you going to start shipping again ? surely you won't know if it is going to fit the booster till you have it in hand..

Re: Obi Wan ANH Saber Crystal Chamber Kit ( update 1/21/16 plz read post # 474 )

As far as a tip for holding the lower transistor in place- I have no mechanical skills whatsoever! However I did have a set of drywall anchors. I cut one and used it on the back of the clamp to thread the transistor screw through. Had to wear rubber gloves to keep the anchor in place, but worked a treat. The upper transistor I filed to size and glued. It's held in place pretty well. Mine is for display so all good. Once again- thanks to Spirit of ob1 for putting this together. Good work fella!!!

Oh, and another display photo- with the Luke Reveal saber:

As soon as the new hallow spacers are made and replaced I will continue shipping, I'm meeting with the shop tomorrow so I will have a better estimated date.

I agree , how will we know what boosters we have?
What is a hallow spacer ? A spacer with no thread?
I suggest the people that didn't get one , to ship both old and new and we can return the one that doesn't .

Obi Wan ANH Saber Crystal Chamber Kit ( update 1/21/16 plz read post # 474 )

Got mine today. Picked up several 3/4" - 7/8" washers and one 2-inch bolt for the bottom part. Was able to put everything together with those pieces as the 2 1/2" bolts weren't perfect on their own.

Anyone have a good lead on the batteries? Can't find them anywhere. (Edit: got a couple on eBay, strange that there are so few selling these though).

Cool maybe I'll try some of those in the mean time.

The original prototype fits both boosters,so I'm going to have them made the same as the prototype. Theh hallow spacer is the part that connects to the booster

Well the lighting system keeps breaking. After very carefully trying to install it the wires to the circuit board and on/off switch broke four times. After repairing it three times I gave up and got rid of the circuit board. Now it only stays on when the button is held down but that turned out not to be a problem because after repairing it all again it broke again so I gave up on the light.

The front resister button can't be installed so I guess they will have to be cut and glued.

I got one of that bad boosters threads and the grenade section does not open easy as my clamp is not perfectly circular so it's very hard to open it.

Kind of all sucks.

I have no time to read through the while thread, but I see mine is "On Hold". Why is that? Do you need some more info from the ones that are on hold or something? :confused

Re: Obi Wan ANH Saber Crystal Chamber Kit ( update 1/21/16 plz read post # 474 )

Most of the clamp spacers were threaded incorrectly.

Re: Obi Wan ANH Saber Crystal Chamber Kit ( update 1/21/16 plz read post # 474 )

Tom, I had similar problems with the lighting. One issue was the batteries weren't touching the metal connectors fully so it kept shorting out there. I shoved a small piece of metal in there and that seems to have solved the issue.

But one of the wires was also coming undone and so I'll need to re-solder that.

Thanks but it's not the batteries. Each time is was a broke wire. It's just not very sturdy.

I think I am just gonna add a small switch under the bubble strip, get the stupid fixed booster and sell the whole thing.

This hobby just is not fun anymore.

Thanks

Tom

The wires are very thin, its possible to switch it out with a 28 guage, the one I used were 30 its very very thin wire to accommodate the switch plate, but the circuit board is needed only because the switches are momentary switches, I could not find any regular ones that were that small that would keep the light on.

Hey tom, sent you a pm, lets see if we can fix your light :)

PM returned. Like I said, it's not your fault. I just suck.

I need the new spacer and to finish the custom stand and then this awesome AFB Reveal Obi will be in the JY and if the buyer wants they can order a switch kit from you.

The Blue Aqua crystal does look awesome though.

I'll post a pic tomorrow.

I managed to trash the finish on my brand new Sideshow Terminator 1/1 Endoskull I have been waiting like 25 years to own. Had it for four days.

I am so done with this hobby.

Thanks for the offer though.

You are awesome.

Tom

Catching up on the thread I notice my order (for a 'standard version' rather than the FX kit) is on hold. I assume this is just while the thread issues are sorted out - let me know if you need any more info.

I have an old Romans saber - and also a bunch of other boosters and parts from various makers. I wasn't sure this kit would work right out of the box for me anyway as the roman saber is pretty old, and I was already prepared to make some mods to make it work - looking forward to receiving the kit to get started :)
