Limited Run CLOSED: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

Another option is to take the STL/s pay someone to convert them into STEP, then give them over to a machininst...

Better option is to print and paint. You won't know the difference, honestly from print to alu from look or feel. Though your wallet will.

Since these aren't part of the structure or for dueling (just display) it shouldn't be a big deal to be in print.

Thanks for the pics Teecrooz. Still not sold on those, but if those are my only option...:unsure

I have bookmarked this thread and am eagerly awaiting the interest list to go up for the V2.

I will definitely be getting general frosty to paint it as all these pics look amazing!!

me too, im afraid when the v2 run goes live ill miss the sign up. i fear the list is going to fill up in a couple of minutes

any idea of how many you will produce in the v2 run?

Definitely do it. Can't recommend General Frosty's work enough. He's done a few projects for me now and his work has always been top notch. He really outdid himself with this saber, though. I had high hopes based on his previous work and he totally blew my expectations out of the water.

You sure know how to butter me up like a big waffle...

The only way you'll miss sign up is if you're under a rock for a few weeks/month :D

I'm in the process now of finalizing some details with the machinist. I have some preliminary prices for prototyping and run, but I'm holding onto those until I can be sure it's realistic.

There are quite a few minor improvements in the way the saber is put together and the small detailing in order to better match the Prop Shop version. The entire thing was resized to match and because of this there were a lot of changes to the scaling of individual parts.

This will be the Kylo you are looking for. I will make sure everyone gets in on it who wants it.

The goal is to get the price in the same range as the V1.

I will not be offering different levels of details like last time with some resin cast parts. That was a logistical nightmare with the V1.

These will be 100% full machined with no option to save money on cast detail parts. Which means there won't be an entry level price on them, just the top end. I know I"m going to lose some business this way but the way we made the V2 there is no ability to have cast resin parts.

I've got a feeling this will be a grail piece. I plan on some additional things to solidify this thought that will come with the saber. but no spoilers. I'm not planning on limiting the production. I will make as many as people want within the time frame of the order window, be that 50 or 1000. My guess is closer to 50 though :D

I'll give more details once I know it.

I have to say, I fall more in love with this saber every day. I think this vertical stand really shows it off well, too. Thanks again to dday, GeneralFrosty, and all involved for making this happen.

Here's hoping that one of your extras for this saber will be metal blade plugs!

Nah, those aren't extras, those come standard :D

out standing!! where did you ever find that stand?! beautiful!

You can get a good angled stand like the prop shop modeled by Gustavo for free here: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/gg4g?section=Lightsabers&s=0

Either have shapeways print it or signin and download it to have a regular printer print it out.
Cost me about $20 to have it printed by a guy with a FDM printer.

yeah but that guy wont reply back to any of my messages. i contacted him asking the wait time on a set of 3 stands, heard nothing, sent another message and nothing again... how long did it take you to get yours?

Probably about a week and a half to ship and arrive. But I ordered a single piece and it wasn't around Christmas. If you messaged recently the Holidays could be why he hasn't gotten back to you.

On the Custom Lightsaber Owners Facebook page he said he was going to be away on a trip for Christmas Dec 20 - 27th, so should be back on soon if not now....

Let me know ahead of time if I have to finish 1000 of these...so I can plan my year accordingly lol!

The V1 run I can understand people have some doubts. A semi unknown person setup to do a pretty large deal like a saber run. Some anxiety and worries if I'm a flash in the pan, if I can be trusted with your money and so on.

The V1 run was not without it's problems but they have been sorted and I think the V1 run has proven that I can produce. There should be nothing holding you back from this very complicated and intricate saber.

I've ordered the prototype saber already, it should be done in the next 12-14 days.

Once I have this I will take some photos and measurements and do some initial QC to ensure that this is the saber we all want and suggest some changes to the machinist as necessary.

Shortly thereafter I will split the V2 details into it's own sale thread.

So we're close to run start. I know it's hard just after the holidays.

With the V2 run I do not see as many delays we we had in the V1. I'm now the only person involved in the sales process and machining, not counting the machinist. So there will be no back and forth delays between me and a partner. I'm sure it won't be perfectly smooth sailing but I'm very hopeful that this run will take a lot less time vs the V1.
