Limited Run CLOSED: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

Ok, a couple of quick notes...

If you have told me you want me to ship to a painter, it is YOUR responsibility to contact them and sort out the order so they expect your piece.

If you are getting finishing by AFX ( @GeneralFROSTY; ), keep in mind that he will not be taking orders for painting after our run, he is completely loaded with work and will be painting the hilts all at once. So get your order in, and submit contact to him now.

I've got the wire, both red and blue. Anyone who ordered a red wire up until now is good. If you decide now you want a red wire, it's to late to get them from me. You'll need to engage with Tom Leech (Facebook) in order to order the wire from him.

Blue wire will come with every hilt as a part of your price. I found a good rich blue wire that fits really well.

I have a couple sets of heatsinks not promised just yet. If you want heatsinks, let me know $15 for the set. Limited quantity though, only 4 sets.

This photo was taken today. I know it's not much but it's progress! There are other parts done but these were the only ones ready to do anything else with. More photos form the next time we go out there. Now that cutting has actually begun, it will proceed fast.

The little pile of pieces are the wire holders, not scraps :D At least this is good proof that this are finally happening and moving forward! Exciting!

I'm sorry if this was posted already but what is the best way to get in contact with GeneralFrosty / AFX? I had a few questions and or requests for my order.

You can send him a message here.

He is very busy and doesn't get to messages every day with trying to stay on top of his backlog.

You can try him on FaceBook also, he seems to check that a bit more often. Search under Artisan FX

My apologies for being slow to respond to emails. I get so many messages daily that I have to pick and choose which ones to get to right away as I'm often trying to keep my ADD under control!
I'm excited to do work for this run. If you want my services, simply read through and follow the instructions detailed in the PDF document I provided dday - I wrote all this up to help ease the amount of messages I get and to help things move forward without the need for customers to ask a lot of questions, it's all thoroughly outlined in the document.
I got everyone's back on this run. My work is important to me and I hope you'll all enjoy it!

Everybody listen up!
I have a lot of things to go over with my customers about this run but need some time to sit down and really get my thoughts down, so PLEASE lookout for a forthcoming post from me, probably tomorrow afternoon.
I NEED everyone on my list to be a part of this

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT MY FINISHING SERVICES ON THIS RUN!

Ok everybody, I have some things I need to go over regarding some changes I will be making to my finishing on the run. This post is in response to the images of the PropShop replica in addition to a message I received from a client who was asking about having specific things replicated on this hilt.

First i'd like to say that there are definitely numerous variations of this prop in different stages of weathering. The initial reference images I was studying to replicate my sample saber were the ones taken at Celebration, which was one of the screen-used pieces. Now that PropShop has shown a number of detailed photos of their replica, in addition to other reference material found online, there has to be a decision made as to which variation of this prop I am going to go with.

My intent is to do a "best of" finish on these. I will employ elements taken from the various images we have and do something that I know everyone will absolutely love. I will be basing the majority of my finish on the PropShop finish, but adding the battery acid-like corrosion in a few key areas like we see on the Celebration prop. The main thing I need some input on is the rainbow heat damage effect - the Celebration prop shows this as being less colorful with only 3 colors (to my eyes) and the PropShop having more colors.
I want to keep these all consistent so there has to be a vote as to which version everyone likes. I can definitely replicate either no problem. I have all the colors I need already.
I do need everyone to trust me a little that I can deliver a gorgeous piece. I know exactly how I am going to approach this and what materials and colors I will be using, I just want to make sure people are understanding what they will be getting.
If you can give me a little artistic license here, I am sure you will find that my finishing work is right on par with what we are seeing in the reference images.

I think the PropShop rainbow heat damage effect with more colors looks more like how it looks in the BTS doc:

What I really like about what we can see in the PropShop pictures and in the above pictures is how much copper color is visible, and how that contrasts with the dark black/very dark gray color of the body of the saber. In fact I think there's more copper than silver. That's probably what I'm looking for most in the paint job for mine.
May I ask if you have any good pictures that show the battery acid-like corrosion that's visible in the Celebration pictures?

I personally LOVE the look of the PropShop Kylo saber. Having said that, I'm sure however you decide paint these, it'll be AWESOME FROSTY! I'm sure I'll be very happy with mine however you decide to do it!:cool

Thank you for posting up in here GeneralFROSTY again hope I didn't cause to much trouble. I know you will do an awesome job on our sabers. It really means a lot that you are willing to tweak the finishing process for us.

It's a relief to see that some others on here like the same finish that I was interested in. I am in agreement with kelliwise. I like the copperish weathering on the propshop saber. The raw aluminum is just too bright on its own in my opinion to leave alone. In addition I am all for the more colorful heating effect on the side emitters/quillons. I also would look to see more pictures of the battery acid corrison on the other units. I must have missed it. To me it looked mostly black on the bottom.

I agree with the comments above, but also fully trust your expert skills to do what is best frosty. Im good either way.

I have seen Frosty's work and can say without hesitation I defer to his judgment when it comes to finishing and paint. This being no exception.

I think I prefer the coloring of the propshop hilt. I agree that I don't see quite as much color on the Celebration hilt, but the lighting seems to make it difficult to see the quillons very well. Beyond that, I, like others, completely defer to the wisdom and experience of Gen. Frosty. I have full faith that these will be a work of art when complete.
