After the survivors are rescued and Capt. Tarkin and Anakin shake hands, did anyone else notice a hint of the Imperial March theme?

Which got me thinking: Obviously Anakin/Vader knows who Gov. Tarkin is, (not sure if its ever been mentioned in any of the books) but does Tarkin know who is inside the Vader suit?

...but does Tarkin know who is inside the Vader suit?

To quote Tarkin from ANH:
"The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion."

It sounds like Tarkin does know. The Clone Wars team really knows their stuff I'm sure they had this line in mind when writing the script.

I don't know why Tarkin would know. It's not like the Emperor went around saying, "This is my apprentice, Darth Vader. He used to be Anakin Skywalker, y'know."

I haven't seen the episode, but I'd guess they used that particular musical cue to foreshadow Tarkin's future working relationship with Skywalker/Vader.

It's known that Vader is a practitioner of the Force, but it's less clear if anyone knows he's Skywalker. Anakin wasn't the only Jedi (or Sith) in town. ;)

Of Course Tarkin knows....Annie openly lead the raid on the Jedi Temple, then continued to lead the 501st after the turn to Vader (physically).....Keep in mind from a "certain point of view" it was the Jedi who turned traitor and then the Rebels were formed out of the league of 2000 led by Bail and Mon Montha...Tarkin and the rest of the Republic simply turned into Imperials when Palp declared himself Emperor....

Not a bad idea.

But thats *IF* Palp. made known who lead the raid. (kind of a behind closed doors orders if you remember ROTS)

He was known as Darth Vader before he wore the suit (how well known I don't know).
It would be as simple as Palpatine saying "kill all the jedi except Anakin who is now known as Darth Vader". I would imagine information like that would spread pretty quickly.

Exactly. I'm guessing a handful of people who were trusted by Palpatine/Sidious would have either been let in on the secret or figured it out.

Plus you have to think everyone would be wondering what happened to Anakin Skywalker. Lucas has said he was basically a rockstar and on the holonet all the time (which Obi Wan hints at after the Chancellor is rescued in ROTS). That is unless they had a fake file saying Anakin was killed at a certain time/place.

People would certainly notice that a tall powerful Jedi became the Emperors right hand man about the same time his buddy Anakin Skywalker disappeared.

They might think the armor was just to hid his identity.

[makes me think that Vader must stink, literally. how can he wash?]

Tarkin WAS at the End of ROTS with Vader and The Emperor at the Construction of the Deathstar, which had been a carefully kept secret before his Ascension, known only to Darth Tyranus, the head Geonoshian, and a few others. So Yes, i would certainly assume Tarkin knew the Man in the Iron Mask.

In "Dark Lord" there is a conversation between Tarkin and the Emperor. Tarkin says, there are rumors amongst the 501st troopers. They are suggesting that Vader was a Jedi once. This fits to the line in ANH quoted above.

There is another part as well where someone makes mention that Anakin was killed in the temple the body was just never recovered.

I would imagine the higher ups that KNEW Palps was Sidious would know Anakin was Vader or be able to put 2+2 together. But I don't think it was really wide spread knowledge.

Well, there's another thing. Who the heck would know Palps was Sidious? Who even knew there WAS a Sidious? Other than Vader, anyone who ever had contact with Sidious is dead. And it isn't even clear if Dooku knew they were one and the same (novelization notwithstanding).

But Sidious was a temporary front. He dropped that when he took power. People would notice that as well. Emperor takes over, Sidious disappears.

A few Russians close to him knew Stalin was an evil man, but the majority thought he was a great guy. And the ones who knew did nothing.

Yes, but what people? Sidious only existed in secret meetings and communications with apprentices and Separatists. The public only saw Palpatine. Even the Jedi had never heard of the name Sidious until Dooko told Obi-Wan.

In the Novel "Death Star" Tarkin didn't know who Vader Really wAs, but suspected that it was the Jedi Anakin Skywalker. He had no proof, and didn't dare ask the Emperor about it.

It also pointed to the fact that Tarkin and Vader weren't friends either, meaning the Comment wher Tarkin Calls Vader "My Friend" was more a figure of speach.

Let"s NOT bring novels into it Mmmmmmkay? Clone wars is canon, the novels are a contradictory mess.

Well... I assume Mas Amedda knew that Palpatine was Sideous. He didn't seem very surprised at the fact that the wounded and older human Palpatine held his own against a Jedi Master. He also didn't bat an eye at the Emperor's statement that he "sensed Lord Vader was in danger."

The Emperor also had advisors in RotJ that would have to have some kind of information. They were allowed to just stand there while the Emperor and Vader talked.

I have no idea what Tarkin knew though.

I'm guessing the aides that stand with Sidious/Palpatine at the Senate might know just because he'd need some people to send messages for him.

That's what a LOT of fans consider the Clone Wars series is doing. So far they've screwed up the Mandalorians.
