Clay

I'm planning on building a torso out of either Chavant or Monster Clay. (What's more value for your money if you're from the UK.)
I have already made the ducktape dummy. Just planning on what clay to buy.

Wed is super cheap but air dries and doesnt hold more complex details that well. If you don't keep it moist and work somewhat quickly there's a chance of it shattering if too dry.

I'd stick with chavant or monster.

Monster clay is extremely expensive and so is chavant. The added tax makes it £34 pounds for Monster 5lb and Chavant is £16 for a 900g
I will consider buying some every week to keep everything balanced. Is there anyone who knows if there are and 20lb Monster makers clay available? I have been looking around but it's the dreaded tax that makes everything double the price of what people usually pay for them in the US.

For something of that scale If I were doing it I'd go with WED clay. I think to do it in chavant would be cronic expensive. But like Huntersmoon said you need to be ready to sculpt and work quickly. Before molding you need to seal it to trap the moisture to prevent cracking and to protect the sculpt. They sculpted the entire predator 2 suit in WED clay. There is a youtube video on it.

I am trying to create a torso like this.
Seal it. I'm still trying to understand the concepts.
When I have completed my sculpt to I immediately cover it with a bag? And If I complete it quick enough do I wait for it to dry so I could create a two part mould from plaster. I am going to look at the video now.

Shellac is the sealer. You NEVER ideally want the clay to dry. Dry is bad. for it to be successful it should remain moist for the entire process.

Go to the stan winston school and buy the first video on monster suit sculpting and its follow up. Don't even bother with shellac, clay, nothing, until you've watched that. It will answer ever single question you could possibly have and help you avoid total disaster.

I bought the stream seems to take long to load. But otherwise it's a great start. Might watch the one about the hands as I am making hands first with the monster clay I purchased. :)

I actually have part 2 to that. I bought it when I was thinking about getting into doing my own foam latex runs. Just buy the first part which is the sculpting bit. Part 2 deals with making a core for fibre glass under skull and actual foam latex runs. It isn't really relevent to what your doing.

The streaming videos are fussy about which browser you use. If its stuttering try a different browser.

I currently have a mould which I am going to make a cast out of. It's the shoulder armour. I think that's where the first experience will come from. With the whole 'plaster' thing. Since the steps of producing the item has already been done this specific piece just needs a mould. I need to create a mould. I have Paris Plaster it should be a good start right?
