Chewbaccas bowcaster build...FINISHED!

Re: Chewbaccas bowcaster build...Almost done!

Allright! Its late im tired but the bowcaster is .........Finished! I added the coiled wire and rear d ring. Wrapped the string around the rear d ring. Over all im very happy how this turned out. Ill take some pics outside to morrow.

Re: Chewbaccas bowcaster build...Almost done!

If anything I think the bow may be too big but hard for me to tell. I have an old Barnett crossbow thats allmost the same length so I took the bow measurement from that and added just a little caus it seemed too small.

Re: Chewbaccas bowcaster build...FINISHED

Ok heres new pics I took today. Was going to take them outside but the my yard is shaded this late in the day so enjoy! Have to get a better cell phone camera! Added the coiled wire. Used a cell phone car charger cord that was no longer needed. Added the d ring to the stock. Used two small screws to secure it the wrapped with old string I found. Added a military shoulder sling to it. May still add a trigger to it and the silver discs above the trigger but not much room in that area. So all in all a very challenging build for me and I learned a lot in the process. Thanks to everyone who helped me by answering my endless questions and my little rants about how much I hate sanding bondo! Lol Any and all comments are apreciated!

Re: Chewbaccas bowcaster build...Almost done!

Sorry for the crappy pics. Ill try to get better pics later.

So now tha Im calling it finishe...any one have a good way to display this? Didnt realize how much room ill need. Cant really put it on a shelf or a stand. Was thinking maybe hanging it on a wall?

Yeah the bowcaster is massive, and putting it anywhere is a problem. Mine is propped against a bookshelf.
Oh and by the way think you've done an amazing job considering you didn't have the magnum to start it from.

Wow, that looks amazing! The bowcaster, for me, would be a grail piece for sure. Great job (y)cheers
As far as displaying, I'd look for a wall display. I think something like a guitar wall hanger would work great.

I have a display that i was using for some lightsabers that i sold i may use that with some brackts to hang the bowcaster. Thank you all for the compliments. Esp odiwan and Marv for all their advice and help.Tried to be true as I could to original prop. I did use a Philmore knob and the Fender witches hat. Was real happy to locate those. The side scopes are metal cheapies from the 'bay and the singlepoint is resin. The sidescope rings are not correct but very similar to the original.

Figured out how to hang the bowcaster. Used a display that I had left from a lightsaber display. I turned it vertical and then drilled two holes near the top, then glued two aluminum pegs in the holes. The bow will rest on the pegs. May put lights behind it. Once the epoxy dries Ill hang the 'caster then take pics.

Hi all
A few quick pics of my display that I will be hanging the bowcaster on. It will hang vertical with the hooks at the top.

Hi all
got my wall mount up and Im pretty happy with it. Seems to be pretty strong. Now need to find a good pic of Chewie with the bowcaster and put it next to it along with a Master Replicas type plaque.
