I haven't met any nerd celebrities that were jerks. They've all been very nice people to me. This past summer, I met JG Hertzler and Robert O'Reilly in full Klingon makeup and costume and it was awesome. They were hamming it up for the camera for all the fans and taking advantage of every second to joke around and make over exaggerated angry Klingon faces. Also met a handful of comic artists who were all super cool. J Scott Campbell spent about a half hour chatting with a fan studying illustration about getting into comics, and the techniques he uses, just helping her out.
The "jerk" celebrities I've met were athletes. I have heard that Patrick Kane is pretty douchey, and maybe it was because my friend and I were at a Hawks @ Rangers game instead of a Hawks home game, but he really gave fans outside the hotel the cold shoulder. Granted, there were some non-fans there (those people who just get free autographs to sell online). And Sergei Federov was sort of a jerk after the game THEY WON in his home city. I watched fans follow him asking for autographs in their NY Rangers yearbooks and he was pretending to be on a phone call and trying to dodge them. Didn't seem very nice, after a bunch of other players were very gracious to over-exuberant fans after a pretty great win.
Also, Steven Stamkos grew up down the street from me. That kid was always a cocky little snot and apparently has gotten worse.
