Celebrity jerks?

The one that stands out in my mind was Jerry Doyle. I met him back when Bab 5 was on the air, and he was just really cold. You could just tell he did NOT want to be there. Of course it did not help that I had just come from meeting Bruce Campbell, who was awesome BTW!

Of all the celebrities I've met, I'd have to say David Prowse is the biggest disappointment. At CII or CIII (i forget which) a friend and I asked him to autograpgh our silver anniversary Darth Vader figures. Given that the figure is all silver, STAR WARS was written in silver, and that 25 years is the silver anniversary, we asked him to sign in silver. After saying, "okay" he proceeded to sign both of our figures in gold, nevermind he had two silver pens on the table next to his gold pens. To quote Charlie Brown, "AGGGHHH"

Jerry must have mellowed with age. I hung out with him at 4 different cons, three in '08 and one in '09. Very nice, very funny, even funnier when he's drunk. The first day I meet him, he sent me out in town, WITH his credit card, to stock the bar in his suite. I asked him later, "you just met me, what if I hadn't come back?" He replied, "I'd have cancelled that credit card and sent someone else out". Great guy. His ex-wife, Andrea Thompson is a sweetheart, and a hottie too.

We met Doug Jones at the Chicago Con this past weekend. Guy totally blew my mind how nice and attentive he was. Made me a fan for sure!
I see him in a lot of videos on youtube with the Perry brothers and he seems like the nicest guy. It's cool to know he's actually a nice guy when you meet him too. Plus apparently he's pretty ace at interpretive dance XD The Doug Jones Dance at the Last Bookstore - YouTube

Only celeb I've met is Jeremy Bulloch at this event that used to run in the Uk called EXE-Wing in 2006, I was only 13 and so nervous about meeting him since Boba Fett was my fav character. As everyone's said before he's such a nice guy and he talked to me and my dad for a few mins and I got an autograph on a cool Fett picture :D

HANDS DOWN the nicest celeb I've ever met. GREAT with kids and more than happy to chat with folks. I can't say enough nice things about Jeremy Bulloch.

The two biggest celebrity jerks I've seen were both at a Diamond Comics Retailer's Show and they were Stan Lee and Harland Ellison. Stan Lee was just pawing all over an actress dressed as Vampirella who was clearly not interested. Harlan was extremely rude to a young fan who had ask for his autograph while trying to hit on the boys mother and asking her to his room after the show was over. They were both disgusting

Ellison was an all around jerk anyway.

Have heard loads of horror stories about Ellison over the years from publishers.

And Jeremy Bulloch, could there be a sweeter guy? The anti-Harlan!

I'm gonna have to bring Eric Bischoff's name up. We attended a wrestling show a while back and he was a total dick. He was having his photo taken with fans, (apparently he refused to do autographs) every photo he stood with the fan and flipped the camera off while they were taking the photos. I politely asked him if he wouldn't mind doing it and his response was "hey it's that or nothing".

I replied "ok thanks but I'm paying you to have my photo taken with you and I'll leave it if you can't stop flipping the camera off for one photo". He launched into a tirade about about how he didn't need my money, he's a millionaire anyway and I should be honoured to have my photo taken with him. My reply was if you don't need the money why are you charging people for a photo. His response was Hey if you idiots are gonna pay for it I'll take your money. After that people were STILL queueing for a picture with him.

Also got to mention Jeff Hardy who seemed almost annoyed at being there.

Plus side were Kurt Angle and the Ultimate Warrior who couldn't have been any nicer to people, the warrior was actually pushing the security guards away as they tried to hurry people through he'd take a picture then ask to look at it, if he or the person had blinked or something he'd ask THEM to have the picture retaken.

Harlan is a way cool dude - but you do have to earn his respect. If he sees you as a fanboy or just plain stupid he won't hesitate to call it as he sees it. After you get past that he's a blast.

I think all celebrities have the potential to be big jerks given the right opportunity so judging them based on 1 event is kinda harsh but here are a few of my stories...

the i dream of jeannie lady, i don't feel like googling her name i could care less, she's extremely rude, i waited in line like everyone else and i only wanted to shake her hand and say hi, but because i didn't want to buy anything a.k.a. i had no money, she literally turned around and didn't acknowledge my existence, yet the guy from the show was very nice and he shook my hand, so she's a diva from what i saw, even her personal assistant has a similar attidute.

andy dick is pretty nice despite his name, but you gotta prove to him you aren't a hater, i told him he was good in so and so movie

shaq is pretty rude if he's in a hurry, he almost ran me over with his car while i was crossing a cross walk

booger from revenge of the nerds was pretty rude when like the i dream of jeannie lady noticed that i had no cash to buy an autograph so he kinda acted like i was cramping his style even though there were zero people waiting to talk to him, i just wanted to say hi and shake his hand

the fat pirate and the little pirate from pirates of the caribbean were really nice

the blue lady from that show on the sci-fi channel was nice

the dude that plays thor is so nice that he goes out of his way to sign autographs even when his handlers tell him he has to go

same for the guy that plays loki, he's almost as nice as thor and likes to sign autos

robert downey jr seems pretty nice, he does sign autos but only a limited number

the chick from how i met your mother and was also in avengers is really nice, she will take a photo with you easily

anthony michael hall is a way nice guy who will always take a photo with you unless he's eating dinner or something, but he will talk to you on the steet and actually have a conversation

captain america and hawkeye didn't want photos, they seemed kinda standoffish

samuel l jackson was very rude to me, don't know why, but i think he was in a bad mood, he was tweeting i noticed, so i didn't even talk to him til he was done tweeting, and i think he didn't want me to talk to him so it's possible he was pretending to tweet but i saw him typing on his giant iphone, he typed on it for a good 10 minutes, after he was done i asked him if i could get a photo with him and he didn't really respond, so i asked again and put my hand on his shoulder and he said 'noo' pretty quietly, and he stood next to me and i tapped his shoulder a 2nd time breifly and he said 'stop punching me!' and he was joking cuz i could see him smile a bit and he stood next to me for like 5 more minutes and i think he expected me to paparazzi him but if someone says no to a photo i respect their wishes, funny thing is during this time a professional photographer came up and snapped about 2 photos of me and him but i don't know who the lady was and will probably never see those photos, as he walked away i asked 1 more time and he said 'noooooo' in a very quiet voice and i said ok, then i told him how i just won a dr pepper contest to go to the avengers world premier and he turned to me and said 'damn? really?? haha', and he stood turned to me for like 5 minutes and he signed this one kid's t-shirt, and he expected me to photograph me but i never turned on my phone, he walked away and went to the after party and i just took a shot of the marquee, i think it's pretty messed up he didn't want a photo given the fact that he stood near me for 20 minutes and signed a kid's t-shirt but didn't have time for 1 photo with a contest winner, i don't hold a grudge i'll still watch his movies but will know not to ask next time if there is a next time

clark gregg aka agent coulson, he's a cool dude, he took 2 photos with me, as he was walking out of the world premiere, the other celebs seemed to slip away quickly, like scarlett so can't really comment on what she's like

paris hilton, i was at a concert and she was in row 0 (press section) and i was row 1, and she posed for my camera like 10 to 20 times (even when some of those i was taking photos of the band), she must really like people taking pics of her, but she seemed like a nice person, that very night she got pulled over by the cops for driving with no lights on and she was driving with a suspended license (that's the night she went to jail).

tim & eric, back in 2008 they were nice, 2009 littler jerky, 2010, full blown jerks, 2011 a holes, 2012 didn't see them this year but i'm guessing their on a downward spiral but eric was nice to me once and gave me free vip tickets so can't complaint too much

beck, ahh the singer jerk, i was at the grand opening of the emp museum and i was in the lobby waiting for my ride and i had a beck CD in my pocket, i had odelay, and beck walked down the stairs and i said 'hey beck!' and i took the CD out of my pocket and he walked so fast past me that it was amazing, he looked like a skinny crackhead heroin addict that happened to also be anorexic, anyways, his attitude to me was the exact opposite of John Lennon's attitude to his fans who waited for him at his apartment entrance. And I didn't even wait for beck i didn't know he was there, i just happened to go to the concert and brought my beck cd thinking maybe i'd see him, i was the only person in the room and beck ignored the only true fan in the room, was such a rude experience i haven't purchased a single beck song or album ever since, haven't listened to em either

there are countless others... i can't really think about em... well...

zooey deschanel, she looked at her fans, watching from her van, she watched us for a good 20 minutes, she was gracious to give us a piece of her pie, her vegan pizza, she gave us the entire thing uneaten, cold, gross, i took a bite just to say i had a slice of zooey pie but it was kinda a wee bit lame that she didn't come out to sign anything... but no big deal i had her pie lol

#2 from star trek was nice, he was prolly on his way to go #2 but he stopped to take a photo, nice guy

seth rogen, ahh.. he's kinda a jerky guy, my gf asked him for a photo at comic con and he had just walked into an action figure booth that i was already in, she said please and he said and i quote, "Sorry... I've got some *SERIOUS* shopping to do" as he looks around at the action figures, I was already there checkin out some japanese kubrick figures and I said 'd-bag' and he turned his head hahahah, i didn't know he heard me but he did, anyway he was probably hounded all day no big deal just given the wrong time at the wrong place anyone can be a jerk but some are jerks in most places so just gotta get lucky, i think seth also said he didn't want ppl to recognize him but in that very same convention there was a 2,000 foot poster of the front cover of 'knocked up' with his monolithic face on it so if he didn't want ppl to recognize him maybe don't walk in a room where your face is as big as the wall.

there's more i'm sure i can't think of em right now..... but there's more, seems like there's countless... i'm sleepy

zatch galafanakis is a nice guy and took photos easily pre-hangover, haven't seen him post-hangover so can't attest to his current status of jerkiness...

Barbra Eden is the women you're referring to and she was incredibly nice to me when I met her. Larry Hagman (Major Nelson) was also awesome to meet.

Sounds like the only jerk here was you. He declined a photo so that he could actually do what he came into the booth for, so what?

I didn't ask for the photo, my gf did, she was the one that told me he was the jerk to her. As for the i dream of jeannie lady, still say she was above and beyond rude to someone who waited in line only to meet, refusing to meet someone because they don't present a 20 dollar bill? It takes 3 seconds to say hi to someone. Sounds to me like you didn't read my entire thread.

I did read your post, the jerk comment was for the "d-bag" after he said "sorry, no photo". Sorry man, that's zero class right there.

As for Barbra Eden I merely gave my impression.

To be honest I've never asked for a picture of any celeb I've met unless its part of a paid-for picture scenario.
I just don't need to do it to prove I've met them? If I'm not a fan I generally don't care to have any contact with them Anyway , if I am a fan of stuff they've done

a discreet and quiet 'thankyou for.......' and a wink and a smile has always been enough for me and is 100% more appreciated from the celebrity , especially if they are going about their daily business and want to try and stay incognito

Just my 2 cents

I went to an event once were a famous country singer was there. I never got very close to the person, but from my point of view, they seemed to be very rude to their staff. Later I heard that after finished their part of they show. they by passed all the fans waiting to get pictures or even autographs. never stopping once on their way to the bus. it may just be me but one would think these people buy my stuff, and make me famous i might want to take a picture or two. Maybe sign my name on a few items. But nothing not even a X of a persons shirt. That seems a little jerkish to me

Razimus, you have to learn celebrities names hahaha
Nah, we know who they all are.

Which reminds me, that one guy from that show a few years ago? Yeah, he was real cool. The other guy, who plays that other dude from the same show, he was kind of rude, but I think he was headed to the bathroom.

Lou Ferrigno is a total jerk. So many people agree. The min he signed photo and took my $20 he turned his head as if he wanted me gone. I've heard Gary Busey was nuts and wouldnt let my buddy and his friend pool their cash for autograph for their apartment they shared.

I've been over getting stuff signed for a long time. Though I do want to buy a photo signed by the cast of supernatural as its my favorite show.

Celebs who work convention circuits should be respectful and polite. But, once a jerk always a jerk. Trying to keep on a fake positive attitude is tough 24/7, especially if deep down you are a jerk. Also,I have no problem with someone having a bad day.

Let's face it, there are certaintly some strange social outcasts that probably say weird stuff to celebs or inadvertently make them feel uncomfortable just standing in front of them. How many times at a con do you get a strong whif of body odor from someone walking by? Hot and crowded shouldn't negate the effects of deodorant LOL.

Here's the two extremes of how I view others like me in hobby. There are NERDS AND GEEKS

GEEKS: A savy group of fans of some non-sport genre they obsess about. I am a geek. I wear star wars shirts but my shirts are clean or new, I groom myself well, and am social and have experienced life with my hobby as an important backdrop to my life. It's fun to me and my wife is very attractive and also a geek with me. Our two boys will be involved as well. We have our own place and collection room. For television we get very excited for new episodes of The big bang theory, supernatural, Dexter, Family Guy, etc. I might get a little flak from family and friends but can handle it. Basically while obsessed with scifi and my build projects, its integrated into my life. I would describe many rpf people in the same category.

NERDS OR DORKS: Wears a star wars or comic genre shirt like me. Difference is he's had that same shirt for 17 years and it has holes in it and really should of been tossed years ago. Loves their hobby and can genuinely be nice people, but their lack of social life or ridicule has crippled them from a young age. Hobby becomes only quality of life and they find a way to put it at the center of everything, if only to feel some accomplishment. Grooming is limited to very infrequent showers. Total disregard for appearance as it just no longer matters. Circumstance of living with parents as an adult is not a big deal...but people like this have zero ambition for moving out and the basement has become their sanctuary of online gaming for so many straight hours that it doesn't allow for anything at all productive or of self benefit. Women and sex is idealized by ranking online women or celebs as hot or not. I'm not saying Kristen Stewart is a super model but she's very attractive and for people to say sheisnt is absurd. Easy to judge a celebs looks, but if she was a normal girl you fell in love with she would be the most gorgeous vision in your life. I know my wife is my queen and so beautiful. But if I showed pics of her or any pretty girl for that matter they could be picked apart.

Sorry for rant. Just remember that while celebs should be grateful to fans, conventions probably have very awkward moments as you're dealing with anyone from the cast of big bang theory type guys which i think are the heart of how fun it is to be a geek...to a sweaty Tron guy in front of your booth with tight spandex and an obvious gross bulge at your eye level haha

Doesnt excuse dbag celebs. This was my honest perception of how I view two extremes of others like me in hobby.
