Please don't hate me...I already found them and bought them!
Lol.
Great find.
One of the things I've liked about this group from the beginning is there is always only genuine positivity when someone else strikes gold!

For myself I'm taking a break from buying eyewear. My wife and I have 10 nights in Benalmadena, Spain this Sunday, plus the Greek Islands of Kos and Santorini in November and next May (plenty of awesome eyewear wearing opportunities there :) ) so I'm reigning in the spending a bit.

That said checking in to see what you guys are doing is still gonna be a lot of fun though!

P.s
If a pair of Persol 2430s do materialise that might be enough for me to open up my wallet again Lol

Okay, so came across these weird and wonderful things...
20220520_080251.jpg 20220520_080309.jpg 20220520_080346.jpg

Pretty sure these are Prada SPR 34P 1AB-0A7 gloss black frame with gradient grey lenses (53□20 140)...

20220520_100004.jpg 20220520_095937.jpg 20220520_100019.jpg
I just found a cheap UK £20 GPB pair, but with a dark brown frame front and gloss black arms (DHO-1X1) as a placeholder pair...(pics to follow when they arrive)...
20220520_192627.jpg

Incidentally, Mui Mui (Prada's kid sister subsidiary) do a rather similar-ish model the SMU 110...
20220520_095811.jpg

Also, another UK bargain (again, pics to follow when they arrive).
Kirk & Kirk Victor (this time in the correct K-19 purple...:D

I've got some custom light pink/purple lenses to go straight into these bad boys!!(y)

Nice pick ups!

Nice pick ups!
Thanks man!! :D
I do like a bargain, lol.

Speaking of Persol 2430s, I came across these and at very first glance thought I was going to get a mega £15.99 bargain o_O, my heart did actually skip a beat in that tiny (wait what?) moment before realizing!!...

Anyway, apologies for lowering the tone of serious designer eyewear collecting, but maybe it would assist any non-members out there in internet land who follow our thread and who can't find (or fund) the Persol 2430, as a sort of mild frame lookalike super cheap alternative or placeholder, especially if those mirror lenses were replaced.

Found two pretty good deals on Amazon.co.uk for the Police s1948 Neymar Jr.1 DENH (matt denim blue) to add to your Neymar collection if you don't already have them...

I didn't have them in this color and for brand new, pulled the trigger at that price.

Jeff Bezos is busy packaging mine up as we speak.

(Sarcasm) I really do hope Jeff has put them in a totally disproportionately huge box with 4.5 miles of brown paper to totally fill up my wheelie bin.

it’s a great shade of blue, I always wear them in the summer. I like other colorways more because I love the two tone arms, but these ones are great too
gio, I too like the blue and the fact they have a matt finish.(y)

I bought them 'cos I initially thought (hoped) that they may be these....

20220319_143816.jpg 20220319_145334.jpg

Then, disappointingly, realized they weren't.

The "straightness" of the outer sides of the lenses had me perplexed for a while.

I think these may be the only available (not great quality) images, but I reckon these are Louis Vuitton.

Not an eyewear brand I've seen him in so far and images of these things on the internet are quite elusive, but with perseverance did eventually find some.

These really do match up, so I think they are Louis Vuitton ZO651W 92N (52□20 145)...;)

Hard to find and most probably with a hefty price tag.

Looks like it's this cap again too, to compliment the blue frames...:)

There's also a $50 teal and gray pair on the Bay for one of you early birds!

Finally got out to do a group pic of the last run of finds... two GLCO- the champagne Grayson and a sienna/umber Preston, 3 Polaroids, Dita Flight 006, a pre-owned Silhouette TNG 5227 to cannabilize for parts, Moschino MOS037, Gunnar PPK, and going OT, one pair of OP Clifton.

I noticed the Polaroids are getting harder to find in the right colors, I kind of took them for granted and set them aside for later, but now I can't find the tortoise Polaroids and this seemed like the very last green 6115 anywhere!

Didn't set out to buy this many at once but most were very affordable. The Dita were at 50% retail so although still expensive, it wasn't realistic to hope for even lower. The Grayson were $200 but so rare I didn't feel bad. After that the prices drop a lot. The Clifton were BNIB as a bulk buy of 4 pair, I figure I will sell off the extras over time and thus cover the first.

Also here are Brosnan's Cliftons:
You can see why I like them.

The new Elvis movie that comes out this June is going to have lots of sunglasses in it.
I hope so!!! :D

I'm not a massive Elvis fan or anything, but my favorite Elvis sunglasses hands down are the Neostyle (Germany) Nautic 822...(y)

20220524_072119.jpg 20220524_081015.jpg 20220524_081036.jpg 20220524_072001.jpg 20220524_072148.jpg 20220524_072015.jpg 20220524_072037.jpg

Actually, the above frame/lens color combos wouldn't look that out of place on a modern eyewear website such as Initium, not bad for 1970's eyewear!!

From what I can gather, seemingly Elvis wore the original 1970's Nautic 822 which were reportedly 66mm, not the smaller reissued 60mm versions available everywhere.

It seems he used to have a lot of these with various frame colors/prescription tinted lens combinations, after first spotting a pair of Nautic's at his Opticians "Optique Boutique" in Beverly Hills, where he ordered 8 pairs straight away...(Lol, that's a slippery road to go down, before you know it, you're 300 pairs deep and counting!!).

The Elvis lightning bolt TCB (Taking Care of Business) logo customization was added to the arms of the standard Nautic frames by Elvis's Optician Dennis Roberts.

I think the last "owned by Elvis" pair sold at auction for $126,500 in May 2021.o_O

I hope a pair of these make an appearance in this new movie, they really are rather iconic frames.

So I couldn't find sunglass target #1, that 1st pair of Ray-bans, in silver, but I found a cheap pair in gunmetal, and TBH, it's light enough in person I don't feel like I'm settling... it's a very silvery gunmetal in sunlight. It looks grayer in the picture than in real life. Pretty acceptable if you don't already have them. I did see one more pair out there available.

And It isn't crazy to buy a second tortoise square Soloist, right? That's totally a thing a normal person would do.

This one came in a nice big The Soloist hard case and with the largest glasses cloth I've ever seen... it's also printed with a The Soloist design and is as big as a full-size handkerchief!
20220528_184536.jpg

Just nabbed a few more crazy bargains... o_O

Cutler And Gross 1301 (04 tortoise and black frame) for £16.00 GPB.
I'll swap out the RX green lenses, maybe for some light red customs??...
20220529_202226.jpg 20220529_201505.jpg 20220529_201531.jpg

Another extra pair of Paul Smith Lennie in black (which I already have, from p.283) for £10.00 GBP...

20220529_201116.jpg 20220529_201800.jpg

On rather a lowbrow note, ordered quite a few of these mega ultra cheapo JMM -esque rip-offs for a laugh, some light orange/red customs might spice some of them up a bit, Lol.
They're so super cheap, they'll do nicely for when I'm cutting the lawn and hacking down trees...
20220529_201716.jpg

I've still got 9 other arrivals that I'm patiently waiting on.

Impossible to pass up at those prices!

I believe I've identified another pair, some white and silver aviators worn at the photocall for "A Scanner Darkly" at Cannes.
Paul Smith 817-L (the L is for leather as these are a leather-wrapped version of the PS817).
