Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

Yes, I drilled the lenses for the TNG's. The drill chart is below, I think from page 25/26. You can also get the drill coordinates direct from the Silhouette (Labs) website.

You'll need a 1.4mm drill bit plus 4x Silhouette rimless bushes in 1.4mm....below

There are a few You Tube videos on rimless frame assembly to help.
I went slightly larger with my lenses by 2mm to make them fit better.
It actually wasn't to difficult to do!

It probably seems harder than it actually is, but I can't imagine me doing that for now. I'm about to receive my TNG frame by the end of the week (something I wanted to do for a while), and I wanted to ask you if this document from Deckard was good to use, now I know. Though, I'm afraid I don't have your set of skills and might just take them to my local optical store.
The color of your lenses seems pretty accurate, do you by any chance remember from which sunglasses did you take them of?

By the way if anyone has a spare set of TNG lenses, I'm interested

What do you search for on eBay to get the base lens?
For my TNG lenses, I ordered a few fake blue Matsudas from ebay, there is a light blue and a darker blue lens version. (A few bucks!).The lense shape is really close to the TNG aviator shape anyway, so not much to trim off!
I prefered the darker blue, as IMO I didn't think the movie versions had such a green/teal tint as Deckard's did.

Back in the day, prior to being able to "easily self justify" buying $350 eyewear! - I bought replicas and modified them. It was always literally just a stopgap until eventually obtaining the originals.
I've dug out my early attempts at the M3023's, where I'd strip them down, prep and primer them to paint them in durable auto body paint, to make the shiny black plastic a matt black and sprayed the shiny frames matt too!
lol...jeeees what was I thinking!

Early modded replica alongside real 52mm M3023.

Another modded replica

All together!!

Even with blue coating lol!

I suppose that was the foundation for having the confidence to strip down the more expensive frames and make mods and lenses.

On the subject of wrong colors though, does anybody have a pair of the British steels in black they'd be willing to sell? All I could get are the tortoises :/
Just read back through the thread, Wolfshire, I didn't realise the British Steel's were black!

Guess I've got the wrong ones too! Lol.
Watching the deleted IM2 scene again, plus the screencap below, the lenses look brown gradient to me. I think they may have been taken from the ivory version.
Great! Just what we need -more lense/frame swapping! Aarrgghh!

That's an impressive work ! It took me a few seconds to spot the real ones. Funny to see how a bit of paint can make such a trick.

Ok, so against my own advice on waiting for 4k screenshots of the Persol's, my own impatience got the better of me, so I went ahead and tweaked my 2430's, based on Godwin's screenshots.

I studied the photos in great detail first....then took the plunge...it was pretty nerve-racking to say the least!!

Instead of a solid color, I decided to go with a subtle gradient polarized brown.

They are still not 100% finished yet, super close inspection revealed a bit more tweaking and polishing to do!

As I mentioned earlier, to get a different look, is just a quick switch of the lenses back to the originals.
What do you guys think?
They look like they are still available on Initium's website.
I think I prefer the tortoise TBF.
I meant the silhouettes

I just bought a TNG frame on ebay.uk, waiting for them to arrive but I'm confident. It has been 2 years so I had to do it at some point.
Also, it was a pretty good deal.
I found a ebay post and its asking for specific bridge and temple sizes fml how do I know which one to go with?

I meant the silhouettes
Ooops sorry!
I don't think Silhouette still do the 5227 (silver color 6050) chassis on their website, but I'm sure some opticians still have them. I got mine from ebay for only $30, where they are listed quite often.
Incase anyone is having difficulty obtaining the 5227, there is a TNG 5521 (silver color 7010), that is basically the same chassis.- I have a hunch it's the same, just renamed for 2018.

Plus the link:

The bridge size I think is 20mm, the temple width doesn't really matter, as you are in charge of the width depending on the lens shape/width.

Hope this helps.

The bridge size is either 17 or 19 from what I understood. I don't know about the length of the arm, I got mine in 19 (bridge) 140(arm), like UV400 said, it should be easy to have a nice fit by having made to mesure lenses.

I thought I made a nice deal by having them for 80$, now I'm kind of disapointed

So I've just checked my 5227's for you:
□21 145
(Bridge 21mm, arm length 145mm)
It's a bit underwhelming IMO visually when you receive only the 3 small pieces:

It's still a good deal off the RRP, I've seen them at the $280 mark at some places - Ouch!

Yeah I remember having seen them in an optical store a few years ago at that price, that's probably why I didn't l looked that much into them at the time

After carefully studying the drill chart, it seems that the dimensions are at scale with US letter size not with the scale indicated just below "Attention", am I correct ?

Yes, if you print out the drill chart, check the scale printed in mm corresponds with that of an actual ruler. If it doesn't, adjust the image until it does. It was a while ago when I did it, but I also used Silhouette's drill coordinates too, as extra reference.
The other thing is, after you have marked your drill holes, be sure to use clear tape on the lenses (front & back) to prevent drill slippage! - learnt that one the hard way lol!
