Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

I'll add it to the TS/RDJ super list. I'm busy as of late so sorry for the lack of updates on it. But it should be open, feel free to fix my mistakes or add new entries.

$10 on ebay, no longer on production. Pretty good deal.

hello, I'm troy mcclure gio, you may remember me from that time zeingal and uv400 were talking about the glasses robert downey jr was wearing while dressed in a bunny suit and I somehow decided it was a good idea to try to find those glasses on ebay.

so, after a while since my cazals came with clear lenses and I had to wait for the government to reopen the opticians here, I got them yesterday at last. after some talking with my favourite lenses expert (which is uv400 btw) I decided to go with a color less striking than the original purple-pink in order to make the frame design stand out a bit more: so thanks to zeingal for the idea, thanks to uv400 for the advices, here they are. the only person that's not happy with this frame is my girlfriend, I really wonder why. I think she was happier when I hadn't joined this forum yet.

gio, they look stunning with the blue!! (y) :D (y)

Great custom mod!! - The blue lenses really do "man them up" and are a vast improvement over the purple/pink!!

You've chosen such a great shade of blue too, awesome!!;)

Nice find! I actually have a pair of these that I use for my reading glasses. I purchased them after Returns came out and have had them ever since.

I just couldn't help myself for $10. I'm looking at diversifying my sunglasses away from RDJ and Marvel and this was great start. :)

What cazal model is that?

Anyone out there with clear plastic/acetate frames I want to pick your brain... My rx glasses are clear and the temple tips are turning yellow (my guess is because of sweating and my hair) and I want to clean them. A Google search gives me answers I'm not confident in, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Try this:

1) Remove the temple arms so they will lay flat
2) Coat the temple tips with Salon Care 40 Volume Cream (from Sally Beauty or similar)
3) seal the coated temple tips in a ziplock bag
4) Put ziplock bag containing coated temple tip in direct sunlight for as long as possible
5) Flip the temple tips over and repeat the process
6) Remove temple arms from ziplock bag, rinse, and reinstall
7) Enjoy

Great post Bud!! :D Awesome tip and instructions on revitalising clear frames(y)(y)(y)

Apologies, but slightly off topic again!...

I'm not sure if it's common knowledge (it probably is), but as someone who hasn't yet found some black PS Walton's, if anyone needs a placeholder pair, I came across these...

Armani 4036

Armani 4036's (58mm) vs Paul Smith Walton's (59mm)...
20200610_145848.png

As you can see, although not 100% mega exact, the similarities are quite striking - certainly adequate enough for placeholders...
20200528_105040.png

I didn't want to pay a lot for something I was going to modify, so I waited and picked up a bargain pair for €20 on ebay France and set away to mod them...

Made some custom light yellow lenses (could benefit from being lighter still, but hey!)...
20200610_150818.jpg 20200610_150314.jpg

I noticed the sweat bar mount ends were shorter on the Walton's than the Armani's...
20200610_150053.png 20200610_154647.jpg

...so cut them down a bit to match up better to the Walton's...

For the gloss black color -(I'm still considering just spray painting them), I contacted Rit (dyes) who said for acetate, I'd have to use Rit Dyemore (using the "stove top" method in a heated pan).

I'm definitely going to make them gloss black, as replacing the stock brown 4036 lenses with the light yellow, shows the "tortoise" pattern on the inner frame through the lighter lenses.

On a matt brown frame, Rit said to use navy Dyemore first, then followed with graphite Dyemore to achieve black, as black is not available in the Dyemore range.

Still not sure if this is going to achieve the black gloss finish I'm looking for, but this is the mod stage I'm up to so far!

I'm also looking for a really cheap pair (sub $10) of Paul Smith sunglasses or RX frames to "transplant" the PS signature temple dots on each arm of the 4036's into small drilled holes, so they are flush.

It'll probably be just my luck that I'll score a pair Walton's, just after I've put the work in and completed my placeholders!!o_O

I also decided to "re-blue" my Vayper's, as my previous attempt was too "light baby blue".
I thought the PlastiKote color looked a lot closer...

Apologies for another long post (I may have just had a day off "me day").

When it only really recently became apparent that the Johnson's lenses were not swapped with the light havana 53F frames lenses as guessed, (but are Tanya's customs) thought I'd have a go, to act as placeholders until I get to order some movie accurates...

Looking at 4K screencaps, the shade of gradient brown is a lot different to the almost "grey brown" of the 53F and also a lot lighter at the top, so the eyes are visible.

Tried to give a nod to the outfit too, with 2 (almost nearish) style jackets, one suede, one not!! Lol!

I might try a Sheldrake DTBK cross over with the 53F light havana frame using light purple/pink lenses - Just to re-purpose and be able to use them!

Actually, speaking of DTBK, I picked up some Sheldrake 1187/52 (DTBK) and I've actually temporarily fell out of love with Oliver Peoples!
20200610_190732.jpg 20200610_190508.jpg 20200610_195046.png

I had donor lenses ready to be cut and polished to go straight in, but for the life of me, could not get the stock lenses out!!

Not sure if it's just my pair, but these things must be literally welded in!!

I tried for ages using everything in my arsenal, but they won't budge a micron.
My previous worthy adversary was aptly, the very tightly fitted Johnson's, which I did eventually conquer, but these things take home the "DIY Lens People's Bad Choice Awards".

Well, I've had to unwillingly admit defeat and will have to find an Optician with a Superman cape to save the day!:D

Thanks UV, the Armanis are pretty close to the Waltons, that's a great idea and a nice find. I've looked for the PS for some time now, unsuccessfully, but the 4036 are way easier to find (and cheaper). I'll take some soon and will watch your updates on their modding with great interest ;)

I had to take mine out via heat gun. The sheldrakes in general are a pain to remove.

Let me guess, ebay? I got mine for $100 there lol.
