Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

I have a few missing Tony Stark pieces and thought I'd reach out to see if anyone can help me fill in the gaps.
  • Robert Marc 719
  • Oliver Peoples Corsair
  • Oliver Peoples Bernardo (Storm Grey)
  • Paul Smith Cortland
  • Paul Smith Shawford
  • Persol 2430S
  • Dolce and Gabbana 6002
  • Warby Parker Cass 353
If you or someone you know has one of these for sale or knows where to find them, hit me up.

There's a gold corsair on ebay with brown lenses, bernardos on offer up, 2430s on Amazon UAE, DG 6002 on Mercari. The others I have no leads on.

I’m very interested if they make replacements in the 98s so please keep us up to speed on if they’ll do that or not! I’d wear them far more often if they had lenses like that lolol

I personally think they’re different lenses in the movie. To think of it from a business perspective I bet Gunnar supplied the frames to the set and that was all of their involvement. My guess is that in test shoots the yellow didn’t work right in the scene (maybe not fitting aesthetics, creating weird reflections on film because of the coating, etc) so the costume department probably fabbed up a quick set of lenses darker to make the scene capture better on camera, especially for how the camera angle sweep is in that scene. But since this is essentially a product placement who’s going to say “oh, you can’t get them EXACTLY like in the film but it’s still really close” about their product? Terrible selling strategy. You’ll most likely say “oh, yknow lots of post production values changes the look, but it’s the exact pair you can buy right now”. Which one is going to sell more glasses?

This is just my speculation anyway, mainly since it appears nearly every set of lenses for all his glasses are custom for filming. So I’m going to say if the yellow changed that dramatically the blue would be way darker too if it was just filtering unless they rotoscoped the lenses which I can’t imagine why. Again just my theory :D
Unfortunately, it looks like a dead end on the lenses.
Got a reply from Gunnar....

Hi,
Do you sell Amber 98 (max) lenses separately for the Gunnar Vayper frame?

Hello,

We currently only offer the Amber Max in non prescription, in the Intercept Onyx.

Thank You,
Maxwell

So they must have been readily available for Vayper's early on at some point and then withdrawn. Oddly, the website still lets you add them on as an option, which is where the pics showing Vayper's with 98's came from.

Not sure how long its been like this, but really love the updated new look of the Initium website...:D

The Superunknown's & British Steel's have finally got their deserved movie recognition!!(y)

Strange that the initium website has now decided that it’s the superunknowns in iron man 2 rather than the London callings, even though it was claimed (by themselves) that it was the London Callings in the Monaco scene. Probably got something to do with the fact that once the London callings were used in IM3, they can advertise them using that, and sell more superunknowns using the IM2 reference

Jason messaged me and said he found some Initium Hardways that Stan Lee wore at the party in age of ultron. Idk if anyone is interested. Just wanted to throw that out there.

If anyone has any rdj glasses they wanna sell off just dm me cuz I'm feeling lazy today and don't feel like looking lol.

They almost always swap lens colors, and they use anti-reflective coating on all screen-used lenses. Most of the lenses from Ultron through Endgame were done by Tanya at Prop Specs.

For some context, I'm making (nearly done) a documentary on Tony Stark's glasses — specifically the story of the Dita Flight 006 and how it ended up on screen. Tanya was one of the key people I interviewed on camera, along with Jason from Initium, the designer of the Flight 006, Dita PR, and our very own gotmeth366. Almost everything I know came directly from a primary source.

If anyone would like, you can contact Tanya for 100% screen-accurate lenses, she kept lots of notes on everything she did and is happy to help fans. Especially handy with those wtf-was-the-color situations like the Pradas from Endgame (which were light green).

Do you know how they make the lenses "specifically for filming?"

Because if I knew that, I'd do whatever that is to make my glasses better.

Tanya works with Russell, Marvel’s propmaster. She selected many of the frames and designed the lenses for most of the movies from Ultron through Endgame. She hand-picked the Flight 006 for Infinity War and created the now-iconic Edith blue.

Yeah, I recognize Manchester007's setup, he's also one of the few in Canada I guess. We're a small community lol

Kids, let's take this topic way back. The dolce frames from the deleted scene... Are they DG6002 or DG6005? I have a pair of both and see both of these frames mentioned on the board. Help me clarify please.

Pretty sure they are 6002.
The 6005 are really quite similar though.

I think one of the main differences apart from the lens shape, is here....
DG6002 below....

Then DG6005 below...

Seen better on more 6005's here..

IMHO, on the 6002, the arm meets the main frame in a "smoother/softer" curve, as opposed to the 6005, steeper drop off.
The smoother curve (6002) more visible in this shot...

Apologies for the bad quality pics, they were a bit rushed..

Incidentally, (I know I've posted pics before), if anyone was after trying for the "complete" look, the tie featured in the deleted scene is from Gucci.

Still, not bad having 6002's & 6005's, which are probably equally as rare!
Hope this helps man;)

Hey guys its with a heavy heart that I will be stopping with posting RDJ glasses found online as I have been threatened verbally several times for items people have purchased when items have been found for purchase later. Ive been doing this to help others without thanks but appearantly this has gotten me in situations where I was told to just shut up. Good luck on your searches and I apologize for any conflicts Ive made advertising glasses that were available on the market.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have experienced this here, on this otherwise very friendly and helpful thread community.

I'm sure, like myself, others have really appreciated your input, especially, posting extra leads on rare & sought after frames.

Personally, I'm only missing a few frames, but have still welcomed your views and input in helping others.
You've helped widen my search potential for my few remaining frames, as I'd never heard of Mercari and hadn't used Poshmark or other countries Amazon's, I mainly just used and was limited to ebay, so thank you.

You also kindly gave the heads up on the fake Black Widow footage, which personally, saved me a lot of wasted searching around.

Input can sometimes seem like a thankless task, if members don't respond or occasionally drop a "like".
IMO, a thread is a lot like texting, where receiving a response sometimes doesn't happen and that so much can also be lost in translation.

If members buy frames then find them cheaper elsewhere, "that's the game" unfortunately IMHO.
You certainly shouldn't receive any grief or negativity for something that is totally out of your control.
It's happened to me lots over the years, I've bought, then found them cheaper again. Sometimes I take it on the chin, or buy the cheaper pair too, in addition, just to feel better and somehow compensated!
I did exactly that with my Prada's, hence ending up with 2 pairs!

Please don't write us all off though, there's still plenty of good here:D
Any time your great searching skills can get a lead on some original LC Red Havana's, please PM me!! - if you feel uncomfortable sharing here!;)
