Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

I know it's probably crazy trying to ID the Black Widow frames this early, but I've tried my best enhancing the image, with not much luck.

It does seem though, that it may indeed be a red frame wih dark grey lenses, with quite a large vertical silver/chrome temple or logo hinge.
The arms do look quite thick at the temple, tapering down towards the ear.

I know it's far too early to tell, but IMO they look a bit large in lens height to be Hybrid Moment's and too thick in frame shape to be All-in armoured editions....that's not to say that they 100% aren't them.

Bromley's great info. on the Hybrid Moment's does seem to logically point to them.

If the leaked pic is indeed genuine and also has the possibility of being "recycled footage", Initium did hint ages ago (if I'm not mistaken), that Police Jr.1 s1948 in bordeaux red were to be also featured in Civil War, but I think we can possibly rule them out too.

Looking around I can't find anything even similar, apart from a few frames, that if you "squint", hold only a very slight resemblance...still nowhere near though...

None of these obviously, just brainstorming!

Any more early ideas or theories on what they could be??

Half the fun has been in the chase of trying to ID IM frames, narrowing down what they could be, especially with early released bad quality images!!
It would be too easy and less of a challenge with a perfect HD screencap being available straight away!! Lol.
These may be the last MCU movie ones, so I'm just making the most of it!!:D

Thing is, they may not be red at all, they may be light brown or something.

Does everyone else feel the same excitement and anticipation in the starting blocks, waiting for them to be 100% ID'ed?? o_O

These photos are fake. They're confirmed to be images from a Spanish soap opera. Sorry to burst your bubble. :/

Haha, not at all!!
It's all part of the investigative process here, lol!

So turns out "Tony Stark" is Murilo Benício in Brazilian soap opera "amor de mãe".

They look like Persol's or wayfarer's of some sort, haha.

Why would someone even take the time and effort to do this? There's some really pointless people out there!

Still, it means all possibilities are open, I just hope the cameo does actually include some frames to finish off the entire collection!

Crystal frame and pink is a great combo (y)

in the end I saw some of the options at my optician’s and I went whit this darker solid pink, that’s more clear under direct sunlight. I really like the way they turned out. and about the size, 50 is smaller than most of the frames I wear but not the smallest in my collection. thank you again for your help and advices!

Yes and yes !! They look fantastic !
I'm sure you're gonna love wearing them. This was definitely one of the best possible choice of lenses (y)

guys what can you tell me about the two sizes of the concept 2? I have the all in in the bigger size and I like them, just wanted to know if the fit is similar or whatever

I have the original All-in AI-006 (in 58mm I think) and Concept 2's in the original Roy Tower size of 61mm.

I think both frames are a great fit, but it's personal choice with the Concept's two sizes, as whether to go for "personal fit" or screen accurate.
I wanted my Concept's to be just like the Roy Tower's without compromise!!

I've tried to show them together for size comparison...

thank you, you're so kind as usual! so judging on the pictures, and on my personal taste, I think when it's time I'll go with the bigger size. I remembered you took the gold off the lower bar, how did you do it? did it take a lot of effort? I'm still not sure if I'll get the screen version or one of the other colors, but that's just impressive

Thanks, you're more than welcome!
I think you'll not go wrong with the 61mm size, the 61mm RT's don't look at all too big on screen IMO.

I removed the gold from the lower bar with sandpaper(s), cut into thin strips. A really fine grade nail emery board, cut into long strips would also work well as they are quite rigid.

I took the lenses out first and masked up the frame and gold section.
As per original RT's, the small lower bar is silver at the front but still gold on the rear.
The gold comes off fairly easily, just don't use too coarse a grade of sandpaper as it will "scour" the silver underneath.
Once the gold is off, just go through really fine grades to finish off.
As final stage, I used a nail buffer...
20200116_173132.png 20200116_173545.png
(sliced into thin strips to fit between the gap) which normally have about 3 or 4 super fine grades + a buffer. I use lots of these things as a final stage of highly polishing cut lens edges up too! Lol.

I did mine a while ago now and the silver/gunmetal lower bar hasn't discolored or tarnished in any way.

A little (but slightly nerve-racking) worthwhile mod, that brings out and enhances that unique gold shape, just the way it looks on those original RT's!

Mask really well, take your time and be careful.

Good luck man!

Actually, on the subject of mods, I've been looking at changing my yellow Gunnar Vayper lenses for custom, more "orange" screen accurate versions.
The problem is though, that standard orange lenses might look okay, but then the whole computer screen "protection" feature is lost, which kinda defeats the object!

I don't think that it has been mentioned here before (as it looks like most here have the yellow lenses in!) and it seems movie "lighting" may have accounted for the orange color, but I accidentally came across what I believe are the correct lenses!

The Vayper's seem to be always supplied with amber 65 BLPF (blue light protection factor) yellow lenses.

But, alas, there is a darker and more "orange" amber 98 BLPF lens, or "Amber Max" which is more suited to night time use.

This IMO, would be a logical filming choice, as the scene looks like it's in the dark.

The Vayper's with 98's in.....

...and here, 98's in a pair of Intercept's, just to illustrate the color when worn...

And some random Gunnar's with both 65's & 98's...

I've emailed Gunnar about replacement 98 Amber Max lenses, but nothing back yet.
It may be that they are "prescription only", or silly in price.

Do you think these are the correct lenses too??

A twitter post by gunnar says lighting, fliters and CG made them look orange but they are canonically yellow.

Up to you though. Nothing wrong with updating the look to your liking. :)

I’m very interested if they make replacements in the 98s so please keep us up to speed on if they’ll do that or not! I’d wear them far more often if they had lenses like that lolol

I personally think they’re different lenses in the movie. To think of it from a business perspective I bet Gunnar supplied the frames to the set and that was all of their involvement. My guess is that in test shoots the yellow didn’t work right in the scene (maybe not fitting aesthetics, creating weird reflections on film because of the coating, etc) so the costume department probably fabbed up a quick set of lenses darker to make the scene capture better on camera, especially for how the camera angle sweep is in that scene. But since this is essentially a product placement who’s going to say “oh, you can’t get them EXACTLY like in the film but it’s still really close” about their product? Terrible selling strategy. You’ll most likely say “oh, yknow lots of post production values changes the look, but it’s the exact pair you can buy right now”. Which one is going to sell more glasses?

This is just my speculation anyway, mainly since it appears nearly every set of lenses for all his glasses are custom for filming. So I’m going to say if the yellow changed that dramatically the blue would be way darker too if it was just filtering unless they rotoscoped the lenses which I can’t imagine why. Again just my theory :D

I'll certainly post any response from Gunnar, plus, if I don't hear back I'll probably ring them!

After further digging, I can so far only seem to find the option on the Gunnar website to add Amber Max 98's on prescriptions, here....

20200116_201223.png

The price seems to jump from $79.99 to $229.99.
Surely they can supply them just as standard lenses!

I totally agree too, I would also wear mine more if they at least looked like they do on screen.
I wasn't initially happy of the acute "wrap around" style, but after a bit of careful nose bridge bending and temple arm bending to compensate, I got them how I wanted! Lol.

The darker orange looks better, but the official answer from Tanya Howard — who made the lenses for the movie — is a slightly softer yellow than the stock lenses.
