Cad Bane costume (Clone Wars 22)

IMO, Cad Bane looks like the Duros-species in ANH (cantina-scene):

I definetly see a family resemblence there . Of course , those aliens were NOT dressed up like lee Van Cleif in ANH ! :lol:lol

Hes the Clint Eastwood character. First thing that popped into my head as soon as i saw/heard him. I like him.:):thumbsup
Go ahead, make my day punk.

I've seen about every western ever made Thank you . 3:10 to Yuma was pretty sweet infact [with Bale and Crowe'] . But i think this Bane character just doesn't fit into the Star Wars Universe that i know and love . But then.....Anything outside the 6 Feature Star Wars films is just StAR Wars Fluff to me ! Call me a Purist . :love

Can you call yourself a purist and include the prequel trilogy? I'm just sayin. :lol

For that matter, Boba Fett's first appearance was in the holiday special...

Not to mention a cartoon!

I think that aside from the battle droids "humor" TCW is actually as good or maybe better than the prequels and also cannon. 2 cents

Hey All!!

Thanks for your comments and ideas about this character. I hope my progress is worth it!

I started making a negative with the alginate, but it came out very poor.
I made two versions of latex and finally one without negative, but they came out as something that I wasn't looking for.....

Now that I'm convincing myself that this will never work, I'm trying to make an alternative. Of course I still have the sculpture made out of clay, but I'm thinking about making a negative out of fiberglass. (Just with attaching the fiberglass to the sculpture as long as the sculpture is in one piece) It could work, except for the small details, but I don't think that's a big deal.

I thought about vacumforming an ABS mask out of the fiberglass negative for if the latex mask still doesn't work. Much easier for the structure of the face. I could always attach some latex to make it more alien.

Do you guys agree or have got other alternatives for making a good negative? (Not too expensive, I'm just a student:lol)

Greets and many thanks,

Geert

p.s
For if this project turns out good, I will make more Cad Bane masks for the ones who like it!

daska I don't have any suggestions but I hope you find a solution. Hopefully the experts here can chime in with some help.

Don't let anyone on here bully you into thinking otherwise.

Cad reminds me of Eddie from Iron Maiden's somewhere in time era...

I don't think a rigid mask would be good... he is supposed to be organic. The latex route, while a pain, seems like a solid way to go.

I'm hoping to see more and more people jump on him... I definitely like the gunslinger look :)

Yes, you can. It's Lucas' story, no matter how much some of you all hate it to be that way. I like the EU, but again, as Lucas has said himself...If it did not happen on film(Or digital as is the case) it doesn't mean a thing to him. These characters are now canonical. Get used to it.

Here I am again!

Like I said before, I made a fiberglass negative on the clay, but the clay got stuck in the fiberglass.....But now I understand why it such a handy thing to use vaseline....

The clay got out of the negative eventually and I didn't vacuumform, but used a hairdryer to let the ABS melt in the negative.

First I used all small pieces and tried to get them attached to eachother, but it was very hard to keep the lines out of the fase, so I tried to mold it in one piece.
It succeeded and this is the final product:

I hope you like it. It's not really what I imagined but it's good for so far!

I'm planning to cut the eyes out and replace them by red transparant plastic.
The face is going to be a normal blue and I'll try to put some latex on it, so that it's more alien-like.

Hi there,

I couldn't keep my hands still today.

I started with making the four pocket buttons from te Bane coat.
First thing I did was making a wooden prototype that I made of MDF, very simple. Next thing I did was pushing the prototype in some pieces of clay whereafter I poured these holes full of resin.

The outcome were some nice ''arrow'' buttons like the ones worn by Cad Bane.

Here are the pictures:

I sculpted one half of the gauntlets today. I decided to make the gaunts out of two parts, since it is easier to vacuumform.

I hope I can find someone who can do that to me. the other parts will be made out of resin.

I hope you like it!
