Cad Bane costume (Clone Wars 22)

Hi guys!!

I'm making a Cad bane costume as seen in Clone Wars animated episode 22, the blue guy with big hat.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cad_Bane

I made a negative of my own face with plaster, whereafter I sculpted the face of bane on it. Then I'm making a negative of the sculpted face with alginate where I put some latex in it.

Here's the sculpted face:

I made some more lines in the face, so this picture could be different from the real one.

The rest of the costume musn't really be problem, but I thought about making my own wide hat, but I can't find any patterns that look the same. Does anyone know where to finde some??

I hope you all like it,

Greets, Geert

Looks pretty good. I'm not familiar with the EU, so is this guy unique to the Clone Wars? I have a feeling they created him so they could eventually kill him off. They can't really do anything dramatic with any of the characters really, except maybe the clone troopers or maybe that irritating Jedi padawan.

So far, so good. I don't know where this character is headed, but I really like his character design - very spaghetti-western influenced. I'm really hoping they make a figure of him. If not, looks like I'll have to customize one. I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress on this.

There IS coming a figure of him!

Definitely spaghetti-western influenced: supervising director Dave Filoni said that Lee Van Cleef was specifically referenced by Lucas as the direction for the character design.

The face looks like a good start, the rest of the costume should be interesting to see come together.

There's a book called "From the neck up" that has several hat patterns in it. If it doesn't have the one you're looking for, it will surely have the information to assist you in creating your own.

Well, Like George said, if it is on film, it happened, so Bane is no longer EU. Of course, they will kill him off, but it seems like they are dismantling a bit of the EU with the Clone Wars series.

Cad is an interesting character but I can't help but wonder how they reconcile the naming of this character with Darth Bane... Seems there can only be room for one "Bane" in the galaxy.

Good work on the mask though!

Darth Bane lived thousands of years before the Clone Wars, I don't see the need to reconcile anything.

Good looking start, can't wait to see more.

They may kill him off, but I don't think it will be soon. They seem to have done a lot of work to develop and introduce the character.

Maybe in the very far future, but I remember seeing the comercial after the episode aired, saying that he's going to be a new main character for the next season

Maybe Bane is like Smith in the Star Wars universe....very common. :rolleyes

Ha! :) Yeah, that's one interpretation I guess.

"Bane", in our lexicon meaning a hated and terrible thing and the worst of the worst, thusly given to the genesis of the worst of the Sith, just therefore seems already spoken for in character terms if you know what I mean. I don't mean to make more out of it than it is; it just seems lazy and uninspired to have capitalized on an already-used moniker. I could buy it if it were, maybe, Antilles (the real Smith of the galaxy), but not Bane.

I still find him an interesting character though! :lol

Meh ! That character really does little for me personally . He Looks like a common street Pimp . NOT something we should see in Star Wars . Maybe they SHOULD have called him "Huggy Bear " instead ! :wacko

I don't every remember Darth Bane being mentioned in the films or TV show, so he doesn't exsist as far as I'm concerned :lol

As for Cad Bane looking like a pimp, dude, you really need wo watch some westerns. A big hat does not a pimp make :lol

I've seen about every western ever made Thank you . 3:10 to Yuma was pretty sweet infact [with Bale and Crowe'] . But i think this Bane character just doesn't fit into the Star Wars Universe that i know and love . But then.....Anything outside the 6 Feature Star Wars films is just StAR Wars Fluff to me ! Call me a Purist . :love
