Cad Bane BoBF reference

big question of the night... are these hoses coming out of his face CGI... they have to be wicked soft in order to move with the turning of his head.. and seeing them attached to his face i would worry it would shift the prosthetics

i dont know what any of this means, but i sure do like it!!

Ooh! Let me test my knowledge!

The vent I'm confident of - that's the semi-split part at the back of the coat that keeps the coat from turning into a pencil skirt.

I *think* the gusset is the fabric that stretches across the open vent, kind of like a tent flap, that helps preserve a certain degree of temperature and water-proofness.

Indy Magnoli , how'd I do?

I always thought that Cad Bane's coat looked like a cowboy oilskin.

The oxygen hoses can be replicated by real fighter pilot oxygen hoses. Highly flexible.. But they're expensive.

I think at least until after episode 7 drops. Usually I see people talk about two weeks of courtesy for spoilers online.
Oh! Changing it to a spoiler version. I had it backwards. I thought it was to avoid people coming in who hadn’t seen some, but not all, episodes. Yeah, at least until EP 7 is over.
We got a lot of good intel after the end of Mando S2, so I image they’ll give us some more after BoBF is done
The post-season specials are so good. Love seeing BTS stuff and getting some insight.

You got it! Gusseted vents aren't super common on dusters (usually you've got a full split for horseback riding, as mentioned above), but I can't think of one off the top of my head that is shorter in length than the rest of the coat. It's an interesting detail.

Wicked good thinking!!

Glad we now have a expert in here ;)

Do you think the gusset vent being like that is to keep the slim silhouette to a certain point and then from that point on it can flop around in the wind separately for dramatic effect ?

The hoses are transparent with another thinner hose running inside the big ones.;)

You're absolutely right. I didn't see that. I just remembered the hoses from the Clone Wars series.

The clear hoses should be easier to find in some medical supply stores.

If I recall correctly (and I very well may be wrong) these gusset vents are used in some military coats to help movement, but still keep the wearer dry. I've never seen one this length, but maybe it's to split the difference between the duster style, and trench style?

Could also just be a quirk of the design that has no real function for a costume piece too.

Had some conversation with the seamstress I mentioned earlier. She's very familiar w/ Cad, so she knows the source material. A little disappointed in the live action translation as I think most of us were, but she gets it. I provided more detail shots and information about the fabrics that we "think" is solid intel, (again more disappointment that the coat wasn't a oilskin or waxed type material...) along with more photos. She's looking at a coat, vest, pants combo work up. More to come.
