Thats really great I6, i thought it might have been a type of clutch plate cause my dads got a couple of MF tractors and although much bigger, have the same vibe. Ive never seen that removal tool before, its almost the exact thing.

Definately on the right track now. I think a search of British made clutch plates from the mid 70`s, unless that was what you were looking at anyway, may reveal some more. Thanks again. :cool

The "tool" is for a GM air conditioning compressor. look up KD TOOLS GM AIR CONDITIONING CLUTCH PLATE REMOVER on flea bay, there are several of them listed. The pressure plate rings look smaller than I'm used to seeing, maybe a fan clutch? or a compact car?

The whole casing — lid and base — has me thinking about some kind of a military armoured hatch, vintage, WWII style ... annoying thing is, I'm almost 100% sure I've actually handled that particular item at some point in my life...

Perhaps it's from a warship of some sort? The raised rim/base would sort of indicate that...
Could be from a vehicle...

Okay.... here's a whole bunch of HD pictures.(As attatchments this time) Some pics at the end from when she tries to turn the cooling unit back on shows good details of the lower control panel, and the pushbuttons in the rods.

Also, I just noticed. When she goes back to try turning the destruct off, she runs her finger along the french instructions as if reading them. :lol

The red activation light / button looks very similar to the ones used at the rear of the EVA suit helmets...

I was right about the keyboard markings, my friend has the same style sets used in the movie.
If it is at all possible to post as many HD pics of the keyboard shots, it would be great so he knows which ones to send me.

Hi all. Can any of you help with either of the following?

1. I can't make out what symbol this is, or any of the text connected to it at all. Has anyone got any ideas? The closest I could think was a no smoking or a no naked flames symbol, but I'm not convinced it's either of those.

2. I have no problem with the triangular symbol or the normal-sized text, but I can't make out the really small text that surrounds the triangle. Yeah, that's text. Can anyone make it out, or hazard a guess as to what it says?

I'd already found a few of that second one, but nothing with small text on the 3 sides of the triangle. I can probably make something up, but again, if anyone wants to hazard a guess, I'm all ears.

By the way, is it just me or does it look like the big "DANGER" was coloured in with a red felt tip pen?

Thanks for all the help so far. I found a great match for the text. Every letter seems to be a PERFECT match except for the capital R. Anyway, the font in general is so close, I may just manually reshape the R. I also need help with that tiny text around the triangle still.

I've redrawn all the images and so the whole thing is now a vector image and can be rescaled, etc, with no loss of quality.

Anyway, here's where I'm at so far. I'm not 100% set on the red and yellow, and I need to do some work on the letter spacing/thickness.

Oops, I just noticed I missed the little box around the "10" (and the black background isn't black). I'll get that sorted shortly.

Here it is after a bit more work (still not 100% finished). The letter spacing is crazy on this thing. I've had to compromise a little to get the closest match that still makes any sort of sense. I also found some text that works around those triangles. Unless I can find specific info about what it should say, I'll probably just leave it as it is.

Thats just toooo cool stromo. Youve done a great thing for the community as this opens up a tremendous amount of possible projects. Bravo.

The lettering on the original seems to be all individually mounted decal style lettering that seems to be not copeing to well with the heat on the set, add the steam and they must have had a tough job keeping it all together.
I do notice on the original stromo that the spacing of the "SYSTEM" lettering is a little larger than the rest, is it possible to that with V3?

Sure, I can space that no problem. I've come to the same conclusion about the mounted decal style letters as the spacing between each letter is far from consistent. The R at the end of DANGER also looks a bit badly aligned. If you look at the two "T MINUS" sections too, they're just crazy spacing. I wonder if the original artist started getting close to the end of the line and realised it was going to not be centered, so stretched it a bit on the right hand side by spacing the letters out more.

Yeah, they might have had Sir Ridley breathin down their back as well.
A while back, i made some Blade Runner light boxes that came out pretty good, this would seriously look good backlit.

Yes, I think it would. In fact I would be very disappointed if you DON'T backlight it.

It would also make a great screensaver, especially with a working countdown (which actually wouldn't be that difficult). The question would be what to do with it when it got to zero.
