Building the 8' Star Destroyer (superstructures done)

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Thank you guys,

Propologist, that's an interesting question... and I dont have the question yet... I think I'll wait I move to my new house before building the hull (but I can build the buildings, engine area etc...)... I dont know, I dont want to do it in several sections, I want to be it as accurate as I can. I have to find a plan ! :love

Bro here you go :

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

**pushes back from computer... Stands... snaps into the postion of attention and renders a crisp military salute!** Julien... ambition.. talent and part ID ALL working together on this one... never thought anyone would be crazy enough to do this part for part. Primed parts are slick but there is something about all the different colors on a scracth build that i love! Happy Holidays! cant wait to see the next update!

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

What more can you say to this exquisite piece of work?. In primer, it's just a work of fine art!. I think the level of skill and dedication to this Destroyer is going to be one step higher than those that have set the bar with the SS Galactica builds, and those builds are just jaw-droppingly works of art as well!.
May the force be with you dude, but hey, me thinks youv'e naturally got what it takes to complete this monster!.
Stu :eek

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Big respect Julien. Incredible job. It looks amazing now, but when you start firing up those fibre optic windows it will be awesome!

Hope you had a great Christmas..

I think this is the most wonderful model I've ever witnessed on the RPF or anywhere for that matter. I am truly in awe!!!

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

I cant thank you enough for all your kind words guys... Im glad you like it !

I spent my night re drawing all my plans for the hull and building parts, now they are done, I just have to convert each part in .dxf now.

Today I built the assembly which goes on the very front of the superstructures. I had a very good pic of the non-hero side so it was easy to ID all the parts :

I cant say the same with the hero side... the only pic I have is this one, as you can see the resolution is poor... I found (I think) the main parts, but I cant find the fine details :

If someone has a good pic of the hero side of this assembly, I would love to see it, thanks !

And the top :

Im missing a Yamato part (the vintage kit), I was wondering if someone could loan me this part that I can cast it ? (I used mine on the back of the neck, I didnt know it was used elsewhere).

Julien, simply stunning work. This thread is hearby nominated for the RPF Archive when it's ready.

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

You are really a great modeler.I envy your technique!
Now you have to find the pencil that ILM used on ISD.lolI'm kidding.:)

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

I think my son will love it. He gets so excited when the Star Destroyer is overshadowed by the Super Star Destroyer in 'Empire'. He'll really appreciate all of your work.
The scale of these things is awesome, even in model form.
