Amazing work Julien, simply amazing. Far and away the best project this forum has ever seen.

Portside, Im still missing a few bits...

ILM had it easy...they just found some nice kit parts and stuck em on....what you're doing is waaaayyy harder....finding ther parts they used, then accurately reproducing their work. I'm totally floored by this Star Destroyer...simply the best work i've seen on here!

Look at that light test! Might be cool to hook up some speakers in this thing to mimic the engine sound effect I can hear in my head right now. I mean look at that thing, that is it!

yeah that's what I think. I mean back then they had all kinds of funds and money to get whatever kits they wanted. They just stuck parts on . I think MonsieurTox should be working for ILM , but then again everything is crappy computer generated which to me is never better

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

This is incredible, what a huge project, literally! Great work, I am really enjoying following this so thank you! :thumbsup

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Thank you all for your kind comments !

I dont know if it was a kit part but I havent found it so I scratched this part and added the correct bits on it :

Then I glued little styrene chips and I added the last parts I know (thanks BlackPig who gave me a part ID yesterday while I was looking into my kit for this part !!).

Im still missing a few bits (if someone knows them... I would be happy to get those ID's ! :D). I couldnt resist more so I sprayed primer on it :)

Different lighting :

I also found a few new parts on the bottom of the bridge. I'm missing 4 parts, for the bottom, I would like to find them !

Looks Great so far, I will be keeping a eye out on this thread. I have a buddy making a 3 or 4 foot one

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Beautiful Julien. It is truly amazing how yourself & the other modelers have deconstructed this ship & the others to unearth the parts used & then replicate what was done. It really is outstanding workmanship. My hat goes off to you sir.

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Julien, just incredible work dude!. Your craftsmanship and authenticity dedicated to this build has ushered in a new era for the SS replica world!. I really can't see how this could ever be topped when this monster will be completed. This thread is just a must view on what this is all about!.
Merry Chistmas to you J, lets hope Santa is good to you and brings mountains of vintage kits (and lend-lease some of his elves to finish your build). Have a great one dude!.

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

It's been said many times, many ways....but this is really amazing work. The pics with the primed parts really shows off the importance that the undercuts created by the layering of detail play in these studio models, it really, really brings these things to life. This is bringing SS modeling to a whole new level....

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Thanks you guys !
Stu, I would like to have some elves's help ! :lol

Before preparing the diner for tonight, I managed myself some time to add the last bits and to spray a coat of primer on the whole bridge (except bottom, I still have some work to do :)).

I hope you like the result, Im very pleased with it !

Re: Building the 8' Star Destroyer

Wow, What a treat for me to wake up to this morning. Julien, absolutely incredible work, not only are you building the ultimate Star Destroyer, but in the process you are helping with mine just by sharing your reference images on this site and your WIP images, for that I thank you.

Merry Christmas!
