Build: Luke Macrobinoculars (ANH Hero)

The more im looking at it the more im convinced!
Side note: I have all the parts for my build and am just starting. I'm actually modeling the entire thing from scratch because I want to do some stuff for the internals. I'm modeling it like SUPER accurately if anyone is interested ill offer up the files when I'm all done. They'll be solid models.

Yeah that's the one I'm referring to. But none of the screen caps show that diamond knurling on the grip and I really feel like the screenshots are clear enough to show that if that's what it was. Do you know if that grip is a rubber band? maybe it could have been flipped?
I do see ridges in the black that fits with the spacing of the regular knob, which is why I was thinking a rubber gasket, bicycle inner tube type material, or gaffers tape around it. We may never know lol.

I'd say it's entirely possible this is what we're seeing, but they had to have had more seagulls, or the Stunts wouldn't get their knob.

Dann, I like how you’ve chosen not to keep the lettering white inside the Kalimar lenses. So many builds have bright white lettering. I’m planning to do mine your way.
I've been an advocate of the aluminum Seagull knob with the black diamond-knurled band for a while. I have a hard time believing the prop builders would choose to flip it over, just seems like an odd decision to me, and I also don't have a hard time believing that the blurry nature of this photo would be enough to obscure the knurl, but that's been debated plenty on this thread previously. I'll always chime in though!

I think I have always seen a black knob not silver. Probably painted as Seneca says.
These are the shots that interest / confuse me. Your can see the silver outer rim of the knob but there are a series of regularly spaced 'blobs' around the knob rather than the tight knurling on the seagull.

Here is a few photos of my knob. So at the outside edge of the seagull knob it's beveled. My theory is that they just simply had the bevel part of thetknob face down to the table when they painted it. I did this with mine and barely any paint got on the bevel. And the little bit that did rubbed right off after touching it. So that's why it has the silver rim..

I always forget that there are pics that plainly show certain things. That pic also shows (me, at least) that the little metal disc on the battery door simply isn't there. I've never believed that it was, though it does make the Macros look a little cleaner when it's flipped over and reattached. I prefer it not be there, though. Also still prefer the Seagull knobs on the side!!!

Thx Dann. But I do think that the macro community is still divided when it comes to the round disc. in that photo I don't see it. But in others I think I do. So who knows... Maybe it was on at one point in time of filming and had fallen off later, Idk lol. I like the look better with it off personally.Thank you, Seneca!

Agreed. To me it makes the most sense that it fell out and they stuck it back in, or depending on the order of the shoot, fell out and they left it.
