Build: Luke Macrobinoculars (ANH Hero)

I guess I'd have to know which face of the box you're referring to as the front.

Sorry, I'm really confused about which areas you're talking about, I'd have to see pictures, I suppose.

I still think its the thinner ended wedge rather than the rectangular. I see Danns version.

If its a wider rectangular end then there isn't the gap between the on off button and the wedge. I think you can see the more of the blue grey of the camera in the screen cap than with the rectangular ended option.

marv, doesn't that cut into the transition box if that were true ? that would make the knobs off center
Not sure I understand the first part of the question, but I don't things would be off center when I was messing I thought the knobs could still have good alignment.

I think this is my favorite thread on the rpf :) I'm charging fwd with my build right now. Scored most if not all of the vintage parts just waiting on shipping. Gonna build one fully vintage and one with more cast parts etc. I might toy with machining replica lenses if there is enough interest, however, they would not be cheap. Just want to say thanks for everyone's hard work on this and sharing.

Took this snippet from a picture of luke next to a moisture vaporator.

Don't know if anyone else has a better image of this but notice how low the new mystery wedge sits. It looks to me like it only comes as high as the mid point of the position of the Kalimar knobs, and is there a subtle slant on it too?

when you say "new" what exactly do you mean just trying to soak up more info. I just finished getting all my vintage parts

We had a mystery box on the side which has been identified, the new mystery part is the piece which sits next to the transition box - made to be part of? (the wedge thing)

Ahh ok I thought you meant something even newer when you said "new" mystery box.

Also fyi I just scored the proper Male and female regular mystery box parts from a piece of equipment that I haven't seen mentioned yet. I'll post the source in a few.

Scored everything finally! The part I was most excited was the VTR plug. I spent countless amount of time going through every lead I could to find trying to find a source for the plug out in the wild. I looked for all of the previously mentioned vtr sources etc. Nothing had the proper plug. I started looking at other vtrs and stumbled onto the sony AV-3600.. The female jack looked right so that was promising but none had any cords. Days later I noticed one of them had a cord hanging out of the back just barely in the picture. I took a chance and it was the correct plug. It was missing one the sides but enough for 1 full set of marcos. !! I ended up buying two of the av-3600's. If you are looking for a plug an eye out on ebay for them as it seems like another accurate source. There are plenty on ebay right now however none have the cords. If you need a female side that might be a good option for you. Hope it helps. I'm going to start my own build thread and do a full video series on the build like my reys blaster vid series. Anyway thank again everyone for all the hard work and research! Thanks ninja for the fujita and lense etc as well :)

Are these guys painted or are they some other variant that's different from what I have? Going through this thread again I’m picking up lots of stuff I missed the first time. I see people who have a much thinner knob than mine so I was just wondering if it had been identified as something else and now mine is wrong LOL

The knob looks to be all black in that screencap, I just left mine like yours, I like the contrast and the original finish.

Your Macros look fine to me, from that angle!

Hahaha, they still look great!

What's with the gaff tape around the big seagull knob?

HAHA! I don't know. I was trying something out this morning when looking at screenshots. To me that knob on the screen used prop looks neither like the knurled silver version painted black nor the textured grip version. It looks too smooth and matte so I thought maybe they might had slapped some gaffers tape on it to reduce glare or something. I was just trying it out to compare.
