Cool! 1:6 scale, though.

A few RPF members have original ray guns...I wonder if any of them would consider letting one be cast... ;)

No, no no. They're doing two different things: a full size replica of the original Daisy disintegrator toy gun... and also a sixth-scale figure of Buck, which includes a pistol.

Here's my original XZ-38 (top), and XZ-35.

My XZ-31. (the very first Buck Rogers ray gun toy!)

Thank you, Miss Emily Littella.

Weekend Update encourages the presentation of alternate viewpoints... when we feel like it.

And now I will repeat tonight's top story, with the help of Garrett Morris, Headmaster of New York's School for the Hearing Impaired.

OUR TOP STORY TONIGHT.... BUCK ROGERS RAY GUN REPLICA!

GOODNIGHT, AND HAVE A PLEASANT TOMORROW!

That's pretty exciting! I've been keeping an eye open on eBay for original Disintegrators, but most of the time they go way beyond my price range - even though I'm looking for one with a heavy patina rather than a mint copper one! I keep kicking myself over the time I was "watching" one that ended at only like $70 and never bid on it.

Whoa... awesome news! The original is such a classic, that at one time, one of the originals was on display in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum! :cool

I'm not sure if it's still on display, because it's been a few years since I was last there. :confused

So, I take it there's no word as to when these items will go on sale? :confused

Actually there is one of these on display at the Seattle Sci Fi Experience museum. :cool

Also some other classic ray guns such as the Hubley Atomic Desintegrator (which is used as a prop in "Teenagers from Outer Space")...

What's cool is that they're on the same wall as the movie prop guns! So it's a straight line through Buck Rogers to Star Trek and beyond. :lol

ALthough cool this is actually really, really annoying to me.
I was in contact with Daisy this time last year asking for permission to re-release the daisy version of the buck rogers gun. They told me they wouldnt be doing it.

Now I am wondering just who came up with the idea first ;-(

I remember seeing the small XZ-31 gun for sale at an antique store in a shopping centre called 'Nakano Broadway' in Tokyo (probably not very helpful, sorry) of all places. It was a bit pricey though, upwards of 10,000 yen I think (around $100 US I guess).

The XZ-31 for $100 is not a bad deal at all!

(the XZ-31 is the smaller "sister" of the XZ-35 Rocket Pistol, which was the First Ray Gun).

Here's my '31 next to the shiny shiny XZ-38 Disintegrator.

now heres hoping it doesnt end up costing 2-300 for a replica, about what youd pay for an ORIGINAL.

These can finally be ordered from the company's website... for $175.00. I was hoping to find one for a nicely discounted price (a minimum of 30% off through Discount Comic Book Service would have been nice) but no such luck yet. :(

man these look like han blasters. they must have ripped off the original idea from lucas.....

poor george, theres always someone stealing from him:unsure
