Well I've spent 3 years obsessed with my model Orca over in the Models thread and now it’s finished I need to do some full size props for a bit. Iv'e chosen to fill in some gaps in my Jaws collection by making some holy grails I could not buy. The harpoon gun being the top one. Even though I know its owned by a RPF member I'd like my own. I've 3d modeled it and made plans

depending on how it goes I might make a few to sell to fund My 6th scale ORCA build next year.
but to flex my CNC brain again I thought I would start with a small project. Wile buying props to scale my ORCA one of the things I found hard to find or just out of my price range was the Machete (French ww2)
So I quickly drew it up cut out some steel made 2 grips without actually looking at my research properly.

I got scared because the forgrip is cut on all 4 sides, It’s too big to go in my mine 4th axis, so I’m test cutting in foam.

Bought a cheep router jig and after a few mods it works great , I also bought some cheep 9.5mm router bits which turn out to be 10mm. Managed to test cut but will have to wait till the right bit arrives

I really need to start making smaller thing in my little workshop. Put ends on the box, hope this is right because I’ve scaled everything from the box. I got the dimensions from an auction sight there’s no tell if there

accurate.

I’m remembering why we all use cross head screws now. The hinges have been quite a pain . I couldn’t find anywhere in England that sold anything like the right looking hinge at the right size so had to use blanks and drill them to match.

I, for one, really appreciate the period correct usage of flat/slotted head screws. It's that kind of attention to detail that really makes someone's work stand out (y)
