Limited Run BTTF Marty's Denim Jacket & Vest by Magnoli Clothiers (WHITE LABEL UPDATE)

I can’t remember when or where I read this, but didn’t they deny the jacket was theirs at one point? If that’s true, they might decline reproducing them no matter how much money is thrown at them.
That rumor comes from a member of the community with a penchant for telling tall tales.

He claims to have spoken to an archivist at Guess who said that. The problem is: Guess has never had an archivist.

It’s a Guess jacket. So go win the lottery! Lol

Haha ok I’ll try my best!

Indy Magnoli, I’d like to point out that the wash on the elastic waist on these style of jackets seems to leave a good amount of dye in the folds. It seems that since you washed all the fabric before assembly that everything is uniform. Not sure if this can be rectified, but it’s worthy pointing out. The way Headgoonie faded their jackets was applying some sort of industrial chemical to them after the jackets were sewn together. I believe this is how Guess did it as well.

Thanks. Yes... I'm driving the production floor nuts with all the back-and-forth. We've done so many different washing tests. But we're not giving up! Stay tuned... :)
I just hope that this replica can even be compared to a headgoonie, this one has potential and I can't wait to see more updates soon!!

If you all want to see how bad HG messed up with the color, here is the correct fabric laid on top of their 2021 jacket.
Oh wow, I knew the headgoonie was much darker, but that comparison really showcases how unnecessary dark it really is.

Matching headgoonies quality but with the correct colouring would be amazing. That distinct grey denim just screams Guess to me like nothing else.

I’ve noticed that HG also didn’t get the weight and stiffness of the denim quite right so that is also something to consider.

Yeah, I don't own a headgoonie myself but through videos and images it looks much softer compared to my vintage Guess jacket.

My Guess jacket is quite heavy although the denim is not as stiff as modern denim jackets, but not as soft as the headgoonie.

I also wanna note getting the shape right is SO important for these jackets. Like most 80s jackets, these vintage Guess jackets have a baggy fit but high waist, with a tighter waistband which gives it a nice shape overall.

For instance look how it fits on Michael here.

Indy Magnoli, I know you said there will still be a changes, but I believe this is worth pointing out. The waist section on the movie jacket is a lot more scrunched up than your initial prototype you showed us.

New prototype finished! We are VERY nearly there. I caught one mistake (double row of horizontal stitching just along the front edge should be single row). Anything else we're missing?

This last shot shows the color-changing effect of the "grey" part. I think we've finally got the color and materials right!

Any other tweaks that you guys can see?
