BSG - If you can't buy it, make it!

Not to derail the prop discussion but I can't resist a chance to show off the Viper suits we made.

IMG_1644.jpg

Everyone pictured, except Aaron Douglas, worked on the suits tirelessly for more than a year. We're pretty proud of it.

The screen used suits went for slightly more than it cost for us to replicate them.

Are they really that green in normal light?

UPDATE. Still waiting on decals to arrive but i did make a metal greeble for the phone. The other one i made and posted pics was just cardboard, i tried make it out of ABS but it didn't go well so i decided to go with sheet metal.

huh, can't get a TA-954 or anything close. sellers on ebay won't ship it outside of USA. shame too. found a few going for $49 plus shipping. anyone considering doing these in vac form or something?

Since its US military surplus, export can be a bit of a biatch. Extra paperwork for them . . . means they usually wont do it for serious coin. You're in the UK right?

$49+shipping is high, you can get them for half that.

Probably not worth replicating since they're so cheap and minor props.

Word :thumbsup

Since you've perfected the procedure, would you consider making another one for me with a set of bolts?

If interested, PM me with an amount that would be worth your while for your labor/parts + shipping.

Thanks for considering!

oldzey

Let me make a few more and see if i can speed up the process, the first one would cost $100 if i was charging by the hour so lets see if i can do 1 in a quarter of that. Materials are only like $4.

I hope to have my declas in this weekend so i can finish up and then i can start my new project, hehehe

Cool - understood - thanks!

New TA-1 field phone?

Got home to find some decals in the mail . The size and design is GREAT but the printing is alittle off, i think his machine needs some calibrating. The print is a little fuzzy and the colors and kind of muted so i will see if this can be improved. ...........But I had to cut em out and try em anyway, i mean come on:lol

Every time i take a pic it looks a different color.

Pretty darn good work there Moff Man!

I really like the sheet metal greeblie you made for the handset - nice job! :thumbsup

That looks great, Moff Man!

I sent an email to Scott about the decals a few days back, but haven't received a reply yet.

I would be interested in a run of handset greeblies as well, as I need 2.

Scott sent me these decals as a gift because he knew the printing was a pretty low quality. He is remaking them on what he called an Edge printer ( not familiar with print speak) and said they should be right proper then. He did mention that it was a tad more cost for the edge printer but only a few bucks more. He will send me a fresh set next week and i will post the results.

I am constantly amazed by both the talent and camaraderie here! Great job on the phones (to the point where now I want one! :lol)!
