BSG - If you can't buy it, make it!

As i´m going to build a BSG medic i thought i resurrect this thread again...
I just managed to get my hands on a screenused medic armband which i´m going to add to my Anovos green BDU as soon as both arrive.
Now i´m looking for additional medic stuff for the display.

Does anybody know which stethoskop was used by nurse Sashon?
The one shown in this screenshot:

Or here with a better picture from the Propworx auction:

Also i wanna add a medic case to my display and i found that they used a octagonal Hilti style case for the screenused piece but i´m still unsure about the correct case. (Hilti = electric drilling machine company)
The Hilti TE 5 or TE 15 seem to be a good match but i´m still unsure.
Hilti changed the design of their boxes since then so we´re definatly looking for the old style of their cases.
Here are the pictures from Propworx website again:

This is a really hard to find font. PhoenixVader and I developed this font about a year ago and I was offering it together with more than 200 BSG paper props on CD in the junkyard.

If you are still interested in this CD please send me a PM.

Is this the stethoscope?:

Androscope i-stethos

The auction photograph appears to show the underside of this stethoscope. This is an electronic stethoscope from about 2005. It seems to no longer be available. Perhaps it could be located through surplus medical or scientific equipment sources.

You´re absolutly right! You found it! :cheers

I found a website with a .pdf brochure showing the undersite of the membran with the characteristic swirl.
elektonische Stethoskope - androscope stethos
Looks like they only added three more stripes around the swirl on the screenused stethoscop.

Now i only need to find one for not too much money... :lol

I just received a reply from the german supplier, the stethoskop is discontinued (oh wonder, BSG crew) but is still available for 281,25€ plus s/h ! :eek

So if anyone has a used one, even in non-working state, please let me know!

Actually, that's actually typical of most of the BSG props. The headsets used on the show (especially in the mini), though the "microphone" is really Coby earbuds, the main body is a pair of Sony wrap around headsets that is no longer being produced and sold. The iconic Joseph Adama lighter is also another example.

Thanks for you input but i´m not worried about the text as our very own Art Andrews did some very nice medic case vectors...

(Art, if you wont me to remove these, just let me know or feel free to remove them!)

Any help with the cases itself would be great!

AND THE STETHOSCOP EVEN MORE!!!! :cry

I contacted Steve who runs future-past.com. He was able to tell me that the cases are Hilti power tool cases, for impact drills and nail guns. The problem is they are older style cases and Hilti has since changed their case design.

I was able to find some on eBay, but they all come with the tools. No one seems selling just the case. Good hunting.

Hello. I happened to be browsing for info on BSG replicas that led me to this post...to browsing all of the propworx auction photos...to thinking I really want to build my own medkit.

I stumbled across a photo of one of the repair module/toolboxes from the flight deck. It struck me as familiar and I realized I had purchased it from a GoodWill store two years ago. It was just an empty case but it was $2 and sturdy. I figured one day I'd use it for something.

So now I'm putting it to good use.

Here is the original, screen used prop from propworx (all credit to them and so forth)

And here is the Dewalt case I found for $2.

The closest rattle can color I could find.

The logo was silkscreened and the paint was raised enough that it would show through a coat of paint, so it had to go. Looking around the workbench I turned to my toxic swill of choice, Goof Off. (Great name)

I wasn't sure if it would eat at the case plastic as well so I did a quick test.

No nasty melting so I splashed it liberally over the case and went at the logo paint with my fingers. (may not be the most healthy approach.)
After about a minute of Goof Off enhanced rubbing most of it came off with a wipe of the rag.

Another small splash and rough wipe of the rag and what was once on te case was forever trapped in my rag.

I plan on having some of my tech or photo gear stored in this when I'm done so I'll need to customize the interior. These dividers for whatever this case was meant to hold will have to go.

That's it for now but I'll post more as I get this little repro done. It looks like the original sold for over $400 at the auction. Mine may cost me $10 when I get it complete. :)

That is an awesome find! I'm still working on my Containment case...

I have three of the cases but just need to get started...

Thought I'd bump this thread out if the abyss...

As most of you know, my CIC Project is my BSG themed man cave. And in it I probably have about 15 to 20 actual props and, well, a whole lot more I reproduced either from scratch or from the same used production item.

I finally got the box gutted, painted, and lettering applied. Not screen accurate (color a bit more orange, lettering a smidge bigger) but for the price it was great. It is now my electronics toolbox. Multimeter, breadboard, testers, components boxes, etc..

Cost/Time breakdown
Empty Dewalt toolbox : $2 at GoodWill
Rattle can color : $3 at Lowes
Cutting bits for rotor tool: $4 at Lowes
Vinyl lettering: Free (raided my wife's scrapbook supplies/tools)
Total cost: $9
Total time (-paint drying) 3hrs.

One of the hardest parts of this build was finding a free version of the font used to make the lettering.
