Brother Where Art thou...Hair Product?

So assuming people really wanted to mount their Kapow tins in a shadow box, I have a couple of questions.

Do you like the idea of mounting them on top of a background image?
Would you rather cut holes in the image to hold the Dapper Dan and Fop tins?

What diameter hole would work for the Kapow tins?

Is everyone comfortable with displaying the word "******it!" on their wall?

:angel

I would say a shadow box with an old yard sale 78 record mounted in the back with a Soggy Bottom Boys label printed out and stuck over the old one. Glue a magnet somewhere in the upper left portion of the record, and stick your pommade tin there. In the lower right, attach a black comb and hairnet. Maybe have a sawn through broken chain in the bottom.

Thanks. Too bad you don't have anything to display. :( It's ironic that you're the one that generated interest in getting a run of these made and yet you were one of the few who never received yours. :angry

We could do a joint custody thing. You can keep my tin on one of your shelves for a while, and I can display one of your random props. heehee I'd like to help you have a kick butt Terminator to display too, so send that puppy out to me for Alcladding.

Darthwhitey:

Everett: Hold on, now. I don't want this pomade. I want Dapper Dan.
Clerk: I don't carry Dapper Dan. I carry Fop.
Everett: Well, I don't want Fop, ******mit. I'm a Dapper Dan man.[/QUOTE]

Damn it!!! I was going to say that!!! :)

I'd be in for one too! If you can get these going.

I think I have identified the ideal tin for this. More accurate than any other replicas I have seen. Couple that with the correct text (which nobody else seems to have done before) and we might have a worthwhile run.

That said, I know two people received their tins from the Kapow run. Do we know how many people actually did receive their tins?

When I have checked out the tins for viability I might post an interest thread in the junkyard.

For those concerned about price, they won't be more expensive than the recent run but I can't promise that I can do them much cheaper. Mind you, the Pound is weak against the Dollar right now. :rolleyes

Kevin, I am quite happy to pay for your work. I know you will charge what is reasonable in exchange for your research/effort. I think we are all cool there. I'd like both FOP and dapper dan. Maybe you could just supply tins and adhesive labels? Everyone could spray their own tins and save you time and effort. Or just sell the labels. Mmm...that sounds better and a source link for the tins. Any chance of you doing these as a clear water decal??

Tri- thanks for the support there mate....prop custody rights? Mmm a weird idea lol YES.... I am sending the endo...ASAP but props just keep popping up to buy. LOL

i'm in for a couple tins of each for sure

"the RPF didn't look like a one horse town, but try finding a decent hair jelly"

:lol

I have received a PM from somebody on a tight budget. Goodness knows I can appreciate their situation, especially in the current climate. I don't intend to get rich if I do a run, but I want to cover my costs. That's where my comment about price originated.

Water slide decals might not be a bad idea. If I print them on the white decal sheet for applying to a coloured background they should work really well. If I was only to supply decals and everybody else sources their own tins and sprays them red, we'd have to choose a shade of red that everybody could find so that the red areas on the decal match the red paint sprayed on the tin.

Forgive the ramble; I'm thinking as I type!

not sure if this is possible, and i sure don't want to make more work for you

but maybe an option would be to offer the stickers (cheaper) AND the fully finished tins (for more money of course)...???

Since I appear to have gotten burnt on the kapow run, I may be in for a DD tin. If I can get a refund from them, I'll definitely be in.

Kevin I'm in on 1 of each and I think Darth Whitey has hit the nail on the head with his idea.

Why not put an interest list up and see if it will be worth your while Kevin?

I have just been looking into the possibilities with waterslide transfers. To have custom sheets manufactured would be prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately that's the only way to incorporate white letters. I am now looking at the possibility of painting the tin white and applying decals for the red with blank ares for the white lettering. I am not sure how the edges of the tin would hold up. Finally, one of the companies that sell inkjet or laser decal paper commented that the quality isn't a patch on professional sheets. I want to find out more. I would print out using an Epson Photo Stylus 2100 inkjet. Could anybody who has experience of inkjet waterslide paper post a comment on their experiences.

Failing that, we're back to self-adhesive labels.

How about contacting a local sign company (not a soccer mom shop like sign-o-rama, but one of the good ones that do professional jobs), and see if they can print out batches onto thin clear vinyl or clear adhesive plastic. Just make sure the sicker goes right to the edge of the lid as opposed to where the art stops so that you can't tell it's a sticker on top (like my kapow tin).

Well I am interested in both DD and FOP. I guess I got burned as well on the Kapow run. I will keep my eyes open for these.
