Broken Tusk - Small Update, Pg 5, Post 105

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind comments.

Thanks. It does look a bit odd without the dreads, but I'm hoping to order some 2-part Krylon Colf Foam and cast some dreads up. I was thinking of painting the ends of the dreads to match the skin, but I'm not sure yet. Other then that, cast some shins up [cap the mold too] and I have him ready to wear. I just have to mold the skulls and cast them, figure out a backplate, and miscl. items and he's finished. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!

Hmm ...
bweapon's gauntlet & uratz chest-armor would be a nice addition for your build.

Thanks. I sent bweapon a pm a while ago regarding his gauntlet and it's a bit too small for me. I'm going to be working on some more /Mr Black/Falconer armor after this build and I'm going to do the gauntlets. I'm not sure about the chest plate. I'm not sure if the belts too low or what, but when I take a step back and look at him at my house, the armor seems to fit better then on the pics...

Not much of an update, but wanted to share anyway.

I had just enough latex to do a test cast of a shin after I capped the mold. The cast was pretty thin [I pour] and it initially didn't fit the boot. I ended up trimming the shins to fit and since the shins tuck into the boots, it's not really noticable.

I have netting, sintra, and a gal of latex coming in shortly and a set of dreads by the end of the week. I would have cast my own dreads, but money was running out.

Hopefully by the end of the week Broken Tusk will be 80% complete, all except molding and casting the P1 Skull.

Awesome updates, im jealous of all you guys making such cool suits in a timely manner. ( unlike me hehe )

keep up the progress pics.

Semi-update.

I did some work to the head. I added spot work, made the read a bit darker [pic makes it look brighter-camera phone] installed dreads/beads, etc... There's still some things that I want to do as well and I might sculpt some different dread beads and bead ends....not sure yet.

I'm going to touch up the torso, paint the shins, and touch up the boots tonight and hopefully will have the boots with lifts installed tomorrow, netting on the skin, belts complete, etc...

Idea for dread bead end, looks like and alien tail bone or wolfs whip:

Well, time for another update. I managed to pull some decent shin cast and painted them up along with repainting the skin, boots, and neck ring. I tried to add more depth to the skin and added in a spot pattern as well which I think makes it look a bit better.

I had a lot of help in air brushing from Neokazama and would have been able to paint the suit up without his help. I had a lot of from Predator666thepain666 as well. Thank you both!

There's still a good bit of work left to do, but I'm almost there. I have to paint up the Berzerker trophy skin, paint the wrist part to the Uratz gauntlet, mold and cast the P1 skull, build the backplate from sintra [will be similar to Narin's Bad Blood packplate w/trophy polls.], add the netting, leather gauntlet for the left hand, and then miscl items....but I'm almost there-light at the end of the tunnel.

I should be able to do a test fitting Saturday!

Onto the pics:

Hey Munson ,
Just out of curiousity did you mean to have the mask be heavier in paint scheme and color as oppose to the body. The reason I asked is because I know the skin is lighter then the head, so I was wondering about it?

Yea, I wanted to have the head have more red to it. The pics aren't the greatest due to my droid.

Well, I did a test suit up. It wasn't long mainly due to armor problems and my glasses fogging up.

The suit is still far from being considered done, but suiting up made me rethink how I'm going to attach the shoulder armor as well as some other areas.

The left shoulder armor kept on sliding down. I have an elastic strap glued in and am considering swaping it for a velcro strap. There would be two straps that would velcro under the armpit area [I could hide the fact that it is velcro by making a cover for it, but I'm not sure about that yet]. I am also going to attach a strap from the top part of the armor so that it will hook onto the chest strap going towards the back. Hopefully this will prevent the armor from sliding down my arm [which it did in the pics].

As for the alien skull left shoulder armor. Same basic problem and am considering the same fix for this armor too with the straps connecting to the chest strap.

The boots and shins worked out okay [even though I made the shins a little bit big at the base and need to be altered to fit], but I need to figure out how exactly to prevent the boots from shifting. When I sculpted the Berzerker boots, I didn't make them for big lifts so when I have shoes on, I have only a 1/2" of room. I'm considering attaching velcro to help keep the boots in place.

I'm considering adding some pieces to the suit: Cod piece [either P2 or Wolf], P2 disc, and some items on the belt such as AVP style boxes. I'm also considering adding another belt like the P2 Elder has, that will hold a dagger. The dagger would be on his left hip. More dread beads as well [purhaps custom bead ends and bone beads]. Perhaps a plasma cannon as well.

Having a full mask was pretty difficult with a bio on and am considering either turning the mask into a half mask or purchasing a full mask in the future and turning that into a half mask.

I'm going to alter the Broken Tusk bio and add places where 3 hoses will go and add a tri-laser unit as well. I may add some more technical items as well like in the AVP Elder bio.

I'm also considering foaming some of the arms on the skin as well.

Even though I suited up for a short while, I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait to attend a comic con with it!
